Theta TP 101

hi.

need to get some decent way of controlling my 2 casefans.

they are connected to "fan only" from the psu which worked good when i only had 1 case fan.

now i have 2 and still works good but the fans are almost standing still and i feel i could raise the speed on them without hightening the noise and found this one.

http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/Theta/theta_tp101.htm

read a couple of reviews and they where generally overall positive as the card has 8 thermal sensors which can be used to automaticly change fan speeds.

the downside is if the usb cable is removed in use but can be fixed with some glue.

thinking about controlling 2 casefans perhaps an extra fan for the harddrives and the cpu fan with a thermal sensor.

the software seems to be stable.

so whats your output of my idea ?

Regards

* Fans power off when USB plug is removed

• Disconnecting USB cable turns off all fans!

• Shutting down software removes control even when restarted

are these 2 things im worried about.

i leave my computer on unattended for long period of times, upto 16 hours.

the usb cable thing can be worked around by gluing the cable in but wonder how good is the software ?

what happens if the software hangs/crashes ?

what happens if the computer itself hangs/crashes ?

the fans are supposed to go to full speed if the computer reboots.

but i like the idea of having thermal sensors and 8 of them and i like the idea of no knobs to turn and be able to set fans to automaticly increase the airflow when the computer gets hot.

why dont you just buy a simple fan controller?

i beleive akasa do a nice simple one with 4 knobs for upto 4 fans maybe have a look and see if you can get one of those?

i dont see why you really want to do this rather than have full proportional speed control over your fans:eh:

i wouldnt trust it myself, cant beat having complete control over your fans imo;)

cheers.

ye that one will cost me my left b***

read over 10 reviews on the card now and it scores 70% or higher but no one has tested what happens in a crash/hang situation.

btw do you know why i dont get any mail notifications on new posts ?

i get it for the first 1-3 posts in the thread i starts and then nothing.

EDIT:

will do some more research on the theta then i will look up this one.

http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/Chromatic Windmill/Chromatic Windmill.htm

controlls up to 7 fans and 3 thermal sencors.

the silverstone would probably work, th e problem is i have yet to se it in any store :/

many items are hard to come by over here.

xp90 is one of them, just a simple thing as a fanfilter is a hard time.

bought the windmill today and such a waste of good money.

cant use it to control either cpu nor chipset fans.

they makes less noise running at 100%

they both make a rattling noise.

one of them is a zalman 7000b the other one a titan vga-cooler.

also only fans with rpm sensor can be adjusted and the casefan from antec doesnt have one so i had to rob the rpm sensor from the psu fan.

anyone know if its possible to split the rpm sensors from cpu and chipset fan to both motherboard and to the windmill ?

Nästa!!

hehe only kidding,no i dont think its possible to split the rpm sensors

all i can suggest right now is search on yahoo, google etc for the silverstone controller or a similar one.

if you want your cpu fan to be temperature controlled, enable amd "cool'n'quiet"

in your bios(if it has that feature) and plug the cpu fan into the apropriate mobo fan socket.

sorry i cant help more.

cheers.

I use a simple Sunbeam 4 fan controller that has smooth action knobs and bright arse LED's. Works a number, very powerful with consistent power to each fan.

They're only like $8!

you mean sunbeam rheobus ?

thinking about returning the windmill.

when i started the computer this morning i have a difference over 4celsius on the 3 temp sensors and that indicates atleast 1 of them is bad.

also had trouble getting channel 1 working.
