Thermaltake Armor VA8000B Series does not power off?

Hi all

I've just brought the case along with Core 2 Duo and a P5W DH etc etc... when i popped in the processor and turn the computer on, i get nothing but a black screen, basically, my bios chip does not support Core 2 Duo, but i've called and new chip are coming, that problem is solved....

Since i see black screens all the time, i can't do anything but to shut the computer back down right? but when i hold down the power button, nothing happens, and i'll have to flip off the switch on the back of my power supply to shut it down, so i'm wondering, is that the way the case was made? since the manual talked about holding it down for more than 4 secs will put it to soft-off mode unless you change the bios settings, but the computer won't even boot so there's nothing i can do. I'm afraid that it might damage my computer because i flip the switch to shut it off a few times......

Anybody have any ideas?

Thank you very much for the help

You should be ok turning it off via the PSU switch as the mobo may be in a state of "hang" when you try and hold the power switch on the case down since the CPU isn't detected.

All of your problems like that should go away as soon as you get your new BIOS chip installed and computer actually comes online.

Just make sure that you give your computer ~15 seconds to discharge completely after shutting it off via the PSU switch or you may damage parts by turning it back on again to soon.

yea as soon as the chip comes you should be fine. I also just bought that case and everything is up and running like a charm. It's one big mofo eh? lol gives lotsa room for upgrades.

Hey, much thanks Frag and Glock! one more question?

when you say "turning it back on again too soon" does that mean turning the PSU back on, or actually turning the PSU back on and hit the power button on the case?

Hahahahha~ yeah, is pretty huge, just kinda annoying when the try the lay the computer down, the flap will get in the way.... people are hating on it saying is a knockoff version of Coolermaster, what? who cares..... =[

lol I could care less, as long as I like the case, which I do, I'm happy. I think we picked up a pretty

Yeah I'm talking about turning the PSU back on again too soon, this is a no-no. It was known to fry DFI SLI-DR Experts but I've just taken that in to account on all further motherboards just to avoid the danger. It's an extra 15 seconds well spent as added insurance.

Seriously huh? I think they're just jealous! lamo xD oh btw, the fan in the front of the case for those 3 hard drives, do you plug the power into the motherboard? or the power supply? because i plug it in the mobo and it doesn't seem to work, and i didn't try to the PSU beause i'm just too lazy to....

Oh my.... i'm not even sure if i did that or not, but i dont' think so.... i hope. because everytime when the power botton does not work, i'll flip the PSU switch off and just sit there, brains went blank, thinking.. "why?" check the power and reset cable to the motherboard, couldn't figure it out, and started to cry =[ 5 mins later, same thing plays out again.....

not a bad thing to do, i tend to press the power button to further make sure the psu has been drained of all power.

XxHeartxBleedxX, when it hangs do you just press the power button or do you press it for several seconds ?

i have to press mine for 4 seconds for the computer to turn off.

Raven, you also have a VA8000B? did you change the bios about how the power button works? because i do press it for more then 4 seconds when the computer hangs.... it does not work, so i always shut the PSU off...

Heheheheh, does that mean even if i did turned the PSU off and on too fast, i still have a chance of nothing bad happening to my mobo? I'm so panaroid, i want it to be perfect =[ my first time building a pc....

It can happen to any mobo mate, not just the Expert. The Expert just happened to really hate you with a passion if you tried to switch on the PSU power to soon after a power-down.
