well i finished building my new rig last night to the point where its functional just waitin on gettin cash together for a folding graphics card and an 8pin cpu power extension and it will be pretty much complete :)

but i know how u all love to see pics so i got a few pics of it on the missus phone hope you all like it and if someone can help me out with the 8pin cpu extention cable :)

the specs at the moment are

Asus P5K-E with the P5K Premium Cooling transplanted onto it flashed with the P5K Premium bios and it has the vdroop mod

2GB Corsair XMS2 @ 800mhz gonna keep this stock at the moment

Coolermaster Hyper TX-3 (temp till i get my TRUE 120 Extreme delivered on friday)

Seagate 500gb

cheers :) still got a few things 2 do on it but i think the cable management turned out really well except the stupidly short 8 pin cpu cable!

just doing some piss about overclocking just now managed to get it to pass an intel burn test at 3.4ghz with that crappy cooler and ive got it bootin no problem at 3.6 just not stable but that maybe cause of the ram and im not uppin the voltages anymore cause it makes 2 much heat 72 degrees on 2 of the cores :|

but its only cost me about £270 to build this so far so im pretty pleased with it and the mobo mate is killer :) no vdroop at all :) sooo temped to slam in the new q6600 thats done 3.7 stable on that mobo

Yeah man that's great work. I might follow your rig and get one for the girlfriend as she has been bugging me about making her one for a while now.

I use the Noctua heatsink, it costs around £30-£40 mark but does the job good!

This is idle @ 3.4Ghz

temp.jpg

I don't have any apps installed tbh so I don't know load temp today but it's normally around the 50c-60c mark.

50-60 is good! this is 72 during an intel burn test that seems to make it run hotter than prime 95 but thats an acceptable temp cause nothing is really gonna make it touch those kinda temps in everyday use

but ill be gettin a true 120 extreme on friday so i should be all good for gettin this thing to 3.6+ then ill prob start buyin a few other cpu's and see if i can get good at this overclockin stuff

Apparently the cooler you're going for is better than the Noctua so you might be in for a nice surprise! I was going to try get it to 3.8Ghz stable soon, I had to put to 2.4 for a few days (which was horrible) since had a problem with my electricity, but now all of a sudden it's all gone away and paying normal rate:D. Been back to 3.4 and it feels so sexy lol.

You need a nice low vid on a Q6600 to get it stable @ anything over 3.6Ghz. I think Mayhem got it to a sweet clock, not too sure if it was him though.

whats the vid of yours? the one im tryin to overclock is 1.2625 and my new one is 1.2375 thats done 3.7 on this mobo so it should get something near that

yeah be intresting to see who on here has a q6600 and what the vids and oc's are

I don't have any software on at the moment mate, I can't recall either. I'll check my older posts to see if I can find anything ;).

at the moment on mines all ive done is up the voltage and change then fsb to the same as urs and ran intel burn test on it but my voltages are only 1.38v

thats nice tight timings u got on ur ram mines is still set as 5-5-5-15 just now, what ram u running?

that looks like exactly the same ram as im running mate :) but i just got the itch im going change the gpu and ram out 2moro for the stuff ive got in this just ran 3dmark06 with the gpu i have in it and it was poor as hell it was gettin 12 fps at max

:D, I have 4Gb of the stuff :), it's nice RAM but I've had to RMA it a couple of times, even before I overclocked.

nice set up :D i need to get a beefier psu but i got this enermax one for £25 and thats all my budget would allow at the moment so it will have to do, whats ur mobo like? this one i got seems to be pretty bad ass im super happy with it ive not really had to mess much about with it to get my cpu overclocked

wonder what kinda overclock my ocz ram can do since it does 1150 stock :D

here youngie see your ram what kinda speeds have u managed to get it to run at, im just messin about puttin the multiplier down and puttin the fsb up and so far ive got it to 440 with the ram at 880 to keep it as a 1:1 ratio

well ive settled at 3.6ghz at the moment till i get a more powerful psu as its burning hot by the time the stress tests over with
