My dedicated folding rig :)

Hey guys, been a while since I've been putting this together. I used my main rig for folding but that meant that i could do very little gaming. So i decided to start getting parts and build one.

My dad's an expert when it comes to finding bargains on gumtree and found me a fully working Asus P5K SE motherboard and 2GB of ram. It's not the best but is a good starting point, i could always upgrade later on. It cost me nothing, not even travel costs since my dad has a freedom pass

The case i'm using was from the AMD competition i won back in February so that came into use nicely. The CPU was donated by riotcity76, a big thank you to him

and the cpu cooler, a Arctic Freezer Xtreme was donated by Pickster, a big thank you to him as well

.

With out these to guys, this folding rig would not be complete, not function and not be put to good use.

Other bits n bobs i had lying around in my cupboards and garage.

The AX850 PSU i puchased, i wanted something that i can use when upgrading to better cpu and possibly multiple graphics cards.

So here are the specs in full and the pics of the rig (sorry for the bad pictures):

* Antec P280 case

* Asus P5K SE motherboard

* Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz

^ Arctic Freezer Xtreme CPU cooler

^ 2GB of DDR2 ram

* Corsair AX850 PSU

* 160GB hard drive

The front panel connections wern't long enough to route from the bottom grommet so i put them going across, same goes with the internal USB cable. This is due to the size of the case, the motherboard is of ATX size and there's so much room left. Even the 4pin CPU power, had to go across the ram.

I've done my best to do cable management, apart from those two cables and the blue SATA one, i'm happy the way it turned out. May look into getting some extension cables but for now its ok.

I'm currently still installing windows 7 so tomorrow i should have GPU tracker installed and folding. I'll report back here with some PPD numbers

Well, this is my first dedicated F@H rig, let me know what you guys think )

Very nice folding rig mate. The mobo is an awful colour but who the hell cares when that's going to be dealing out great PPD's!

Nice. Happy folding

Thanks, i don't like the colour as well but with no window panel, no one's going to see it. Nearly done installing the OS, then time to pump out some PPD

Cpu stays at 50c without any intake fans installed.

I have the option of installing 4 fans, two at front and two on the hdd bays. Which fans are quiet but affordable, looking to spend £10 max per fan? Would love noctuas throughout but prices are high for me right now

Right guys, a little but awesome update i thinks

Everyone was saying how little the Asus P5K SE looked

The Asus Striker II NSE.

Brand new, never used. Only cost me £50, these boards are still going for over £100 used.

The main thing, is the three pci-e slots and more room for overclocking the Q6600, which the P5K SE is not good at.

Will try and find time to the board up and running today if i can or sometime over the weekend
