Hey people how are we?

Well i know it aint nuthin special but heres my rig at the moment. Its the first compter ive ever built so as they always say the first time aint your best so please consider that. The case is an old case that im using for now while my Antec300 is on its way and im also running a factory 400w psu at the moment as im waiting for my corsair 520w modular to arrive.

The computer was built only one month ago but being a student i dont have megga bucks available to spend at once so decided to just get it up and running first and save up for decent parts after.

The spec at the moment is:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-73VM-S2

CPU: Intel celeron E1200 at 2.0GHz stable

RAM: Corsair XMS2 1GB (at the moment)

Chipset cooler: Asaka ak-775

HDD: 120GB IDE Western Digital 4pin molex (at the moment)

Operating System: Windows XP64 Pro

So heres some temporary pics at the mo

The plans are to get:

Nvidia Gforce 9600gt Graphics card

2x 500GB sata2 hard drives (don't know what make yet)

Antec 300 case

Corsair 520w Modular psu

Full overclock from 2.0GHz to 3.2GHz

Water cooling loop on CPU

All getting done on 15th Oct 2008:)

I will post more up to date pics asap

Please leave any comments good or bad i don't mind

About your hard drives, I'd strongly recommend the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GBs with 32MB cache. They're very fast and I love them!

As for the overclocking, can you change your FSB : DRAM ratio? If not.. you're going to struggle getting to 3.2GHz!

@brooksie im going to be using this watercooling kit http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php/cPath/33_34/products_id/2701 as my mate has one and has very good experience using it.

@maddutchdude i have considered them hard drives in fact they were top of my list but i was not too sure. I can get my CPU Clock up to 3.00GHz just by running 375 x 8 which gives me 3.00GHz. Im not too sure how to raise my FSB and personally i dont know how to change my DRAM ratio.

p.s this is the future graphics card im getting http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9600gt.html please leave any comments on this card

Anyone know any good tutorials i can look at?

Cheers people

Check your BIOS for FSB: DRAM ratio or something along the lines like that.

If you don't have that facility.. your RAM might limit your overclockablility. I have had a motherboard like that (the model before it I think) and it didn't have the choice to change the ratio, so I would look at that first if I was you.

@maddutchdude i will check it in a bit lyk. when i go into change my number to multiply it i have an option to have it linked with memory or unlinked. What do i chhose? Also i can change the memory frequency is that what im after?

Clocked it!

Hi people heres an update for ya all. Ive just done a 50% overclock still with the spec above and so far its stable. Ive run the Core temp and heres the results. These results were running Spybot search and destroy and AVG scan at the same time because thats the only thing to max the cpu ive got installed.:p

As youcan see the temperatures wernt to bad bt when the water cooling loop goes on im hoping to cut atleast 2-3*c off them at 100%

For additional notes here is the information i recorded using CPU-Z

Processor: E1200 65nm

Core speed: 2400.0MHz

Multiplyer: x8

Bus speed: 300.0MHz

Rated FSB: 1200.0MHz

Core voltage: 1.28v

Well thats all folks i will keep more updates coming your way when i get them

See ya'll later

:wavey:

That aint half bad, 32oC on idle, taking into account even a few degrees of innaccuracy, will the motherboard take much more FSB?

Ive recently had a maximum of 2.80GHz but it wasnt stable and the Mobo can support up to 1333MHz so i should get a total overclock of around 3.10GHz using this Mobo im hoping anyway:p

I hate this psu!

Ive just tried to get more CPU clock speed and did manage to get it up to 3.00GHz but it kept crashing in windows. I cant wait till i get my Corsair now!

Should get 3.10GHz easy on air cooling but want to get 3.20GHz+ with the water cooling loop. Ban factory 400w PSU's!:p

ive got it!

Hi everyone!:wavey:

Today is a very good day not only has my sister give birth to my first ever nephew at 6am this morning but i got my Antec300 case and Artic power 600w psu!

The antec came with the top 140mm fan and back 120mm fan but i have aslso used a spare 120mm blue led for the front and are getting 2 more for the other spare fan holes. The first impressions of this case are that its a monster! vVery spacious (almost 2" more room inside than my other case!) and the fans on medium and low are very quiet. The Arctic power psu unfortunately is not modular and the cables are not very long but so far it seems pretty quiet during operation. I will keep a record log on my other post about whether this power supply is good or bad atleast once a week.

Unfortunately the PSU wires are not very long and came without any shrink wrap so i done the next best thing and cable tied them for now. Due to the short length of the cables i could not do much cable managment :(

So here she is let me be the first to introduce you to my new rig!

Please leave comments on what you think people

Sorry if pics are not very clear, i am using my phone due to digi cam being broke.

Happy viewing!

Here's the current spec of the computer:
