Hi Guuuys !

Just landed and after a bit of research I have embarked on a new PC Build, very very new to this so will need advice and guidance, everyday is a school day as they say so please feel free to poke prod and steer as you see fit, this is my first and so I am still learning and researching as I go, there is always room for refinements, so please let me know your thoughts.

My build so far is as follow:-

1. CASE Cosair Special Edition Graphite Series 600TSE White

2. POWER SUPPLY Corsair CMPSU-850AXUK Professional Series Gold 850W

3. CPU COOLER Corsair CWCH100 Hydro Series H100 Extreme

4. CORSAIR FANS x2 120mm x2 SP in the H100 (exhausting out top through H100 RAD) with 120mm x1 AF in back of Case (exhausting out back) I still have the 200m stock fan in the front I want to change this but not sure what to yet (any advise??)

5. CPU Intel BX80619I73930K Core i7-3930K 6-Core Processor (3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo), Socket 2011, 12MB L3 Cache, Turbo Boost 2.0)

6. MOTHERBOARD - amazon.co.uk
Asus Rampage IV Extreme/BF3 Motherboard (Socket 2011, Intel X79, DDR3, Extended ATX, USB 3.0

7. RAM Corsair 8GB (2x 4GB) DOMINATOR Platinum Memory Kit 2133MHz (I will probably max this through all the dim slots to be 32GB)

So far this is it, or my budget will allow so the build is incomplete for this month at least. I am researching GPU's and so far I am looking at:-

GPU Palit GTX 680 Jetstream Edition 4GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card

SSD Drives probably Corsair x2 for system and storage (probably Sata3 Force GT)

and probably Blueray DVD Burner !

All please let me know what you think so far, always room for scope, I am still not sure about the GPU and I still don't know what to do the with the 200mm stock fan in the front of my Corsair 600T SE Case !

Thats it for now can of course supply pics, it does look great so far I must admit. And thanks for reading, again please let me know your thoughts !

Welcome mate.

Get a GTX 670 incstead of the 680. You can overclock the 670 and it will perform exactly the same (even better in some tests) as a 680. So You may as well save the money.

I hear the Palit ones are also quite loud, so maybe look at a Gigabyte Windforce 670, or the KFA2 / Galaxy 670.

Looking good though

Yea I agree with James !! go with the gigabyte 670 ! I would maybe wait a few more weeks as corsair are bringing out a new ssd which is going to be having 9k read and writes which is amazing so it may be worth that wait :D

Looks nice so far though :D

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums. As above the Windforce cooler of the Gigabyte 670 is very quiet indeed. I know because my 580 uses an older version of the cooler :D

Performance difference between the 670 and 680 is not at all significant so you're better off going with the 670.

To all,

Big Thank you for the warm welcome and great advise !!

I will take head your advise and research GTX670 GPU's like you all say it saves money and you still get around your GTX680 marques !
will also hang fire for the more recent 9k read and write corsair SSD drives !

BUT........<question> if I can clock the 670 could i not clock the GTX680 further again ! ?!?!? Or is it just negligible and better off just saving the cash !

I could SLI 2 GTX670s couldnt I !! now that would be an interesting beast on the table !
what do we think !!!?

Regards to all !

KANEY !

Does anyone out there have the GTX690 ? is that worth saving your hard earned cash for ? OR are we know where near producing games that can even push this powerful GPU !?

Hi MadMarc,

I have looked into this and I was looking at running a 3 monitor system either x3 Benq 22" or x3 Iiyama at 24" this was me reasoning for looking at a GTX680 that could support 3 monitors straight out of the box !

Had some great advise on here already and would save a few quid if I go down the GTX670 route but must see if this GPU can also support 3 monitors easily !

For a 3 screen setup I'd buy 2 GTX670, the 690 is too expensive, it comes close to 3 670 in terms of price. Maybe you should take a look at 4GB versions of the 670s, but here I'm not sure.
