The hot weather we are having

Hey guys and girls just a question
Has anyone else had to under clock at all in this weather to keep temps down abit? or have you come up with other solutions?

Air Con unit is running whilst I am gaming, and then for around 2 hours after then I switch it off as long as the temps in the room have dropped enough.

Well I didn't HAVE to, but my CPU Fan got annoyingly loud so I did... a Scythe Katana 3 seems to be underkill for a 965BE @3.6GHz @ 28°C ambient ;)

Not really had the time to start overclocking mine yet.

Usually when I overclock, I make sure temperatures have enough headroom to account for weather like this.

watching tv shows on the computer, the 7970 spins up to about 42% thats stupid loud! but running stock clocks on everything except CPU

so tempted to get air con unit

I've noticed a big rise in my CPU clocks so I ran my 3580k @ stock clock and lowest stable volts and yet hitting 58c.

My HD4870 has had a 6-8c jump in max temps as well...

All is fine temp wise, just wish I could undervolt me and make it bareable.

Ive even taken my 140mm stock case fan which does bugger all for exhaust and used playdoh to attach it to my worktop, so I have a constsnt cool air flow directly on me...

Not really seen a dramatic increase but my flat manages to stay pretty cool, i dont think im gonna need to.

only running 4.2GHz, and the noctua fan is usually running at 700rpm. temp limit is 45 degrees for full fan speed, so it just ramps up a bit more than usual.

It hasn't rained in 3 weeks where I live. The temperature has consistently been 25 C+, which is great in the day time, but a bitch at night when I'm trying to sleep.

so far my oc holds up nicely, although today we are going to get temps above 33 degrees celcius so probably just end up watching movies all day, gaming in those temps is just uncomfortable.

Not yet, i just facing a huge water temp rising since its that warm. I mean here in Zurich we facing Temps between 35-38 degrees some days at the moment and my flat stand the whole day in the sun so i nearly have the same temps inside.

Water temps are normal around 25-27 degrees at idle..at the moment iam facing 31-32 degrees at idle.

for now i will not underclock, since the cpu and gpu temps are still OK (7970 at 47 degrees under load and CPU i7 3820 at around 45-47 degrees under load).

i just wait for the seaweed growing in my cooler :P

Last summer for us here was nuts try dealing with 48.7 deg celsius now thats hot and some parts of Australia had it hotter than that and for days at a time.

My CPU is sitting nice on 45c under load, but it will be pulled down soon and then it is time to a new build and getting all the things to run nice and see what i can get on the new build.

But only hit 30c out site the house and have around 24c in the house whitout any Air con :D

Had to downclock my 7870 from the OC I had put on it. Still runs a bit warm but I guess thats because it is an xfx 'card.

i have a max OC, a everyday OC, and a heatwave OC.

i have a 4700K under a H110 w/ apache supersilent push/pull
they are as follows:

  • max OC = 4.9GHz
  • everyday (even in winter) OC = 4.6GHz
  • heatwave (present weather) OC = 4.5GHz
i have also reinstalled the huge side fan in my ellysium, to add extra cooling the the GPUs. (which i normally take out to reduce noise)

what is the point in risking the death of our beloved CPUs. we are not made of money. ^_^
