The End of XP gets ever closer

they cant do this

i'm sure there will be someone, perhaps a linux guru, or...a microsoft guru probably, who will look at the OS, and take over microsoft's job of making updates

we may see third party updates soon...

Vista is a rushed version of Windows 7.0, im stickin with XP until then. I think they are trying to push more people on to Vista before they go with 7.0, much like they did with Microsoft ME to XP, the only change here is the GUI, and with Vista to 7.0 they focused so much on the GUI they forgot stability.

Yay, some XP homeboys! :)

I hate Vista as it is totally rushed, I have tried it many times and I am not yet convinced it is the future.

Plus I have no problems with sercurity anyway.. I am all good on that front.

I had to write that news article twice bacause of internet connection errors.. so be happy! :)

the sales of XP will stop on June 30th this year

Will that make any difference? ;)

I will stay with XP for as long as I can for gaming. I use OS X as my main desktop OS now, so I don't really need Vista. But then I don't have a DX10 GPU atm :)

I'm selling my mac and going back to a PC, and its XP all the way (although I'd keep OSX if I could :D )

i have linux on one laptop

xp media center edition on the other

xp home on my pc

and xp profesional on the pc downstairs

put it this way, one of them is definatly legit ;)

Who cares! There is nothing wrong with Vista. It uses more ram at idle but that has yet to have any impact on anything I do. I still like XP but I wouldn't go back...

You were a sceptic too weren't ya??

All good things come to an end and in a couple of years people will be saying the same thing about Vista (maybe).

sod vista

right pile of crap

it had only two things i liked

the number of decent backgrounds

and the search function on the start menu

THATS ALL

XP FTW

It`s funny cos u don`t really when u play games.

U (or I really), click the button on the Dell screen to select DVI input - and launch the game...

.. that`s basically it. And games are as games are.

I had a problem with PE08 last night tho, said my pc was underspec`d for the game >.< Pita I find with Vista tho is that games don`t install quite the same way as with XP. Not all of them are aware of GamesExplorer (why the heck u`d need or want that folder) and often u have to hunt for uninstall stuff - sometimes even the exe to launch the game.

Sick of "Do you want to install DX9.0c" all the freakin time too.

Lol well maybe it was :p ... Ok seriously not. PE08 basically insulted you. Don't stand for it!

Enterprise clients will continue to be supported and those are the biggest client of XP

Vista 64 and 4GB of RAM is frigging awesome. Not had any issues with anything really. It's slick, smooth and better than XP for me.

Different levels of patience and expertise I suppose

gotta go with kemp there vista 64 + 4gb ram = the sweet spot for me. beats the living

out of xp here :) very stable, very happy. i certainly won't be turning back to xp again

Well that sucks, hopefully by April 09 I should have Vista anyway, but I haven't tried it yet and I've read mixed reviews. If I still haven't got it I'll get Ubuntu

XP will live on as long as 98se even if they stop selling it. Internet goes a long ways ya know. I will not go back to Vista though. Ill wait for Vienna.
