My very first post on this forum. Hello to everyone!

Just cleaned up the working area so time to quickly take a pic before it gets messy again. The Qnix monitor arrived yesterday (no dead pixels, jay!) and I built the rig two weeks ago. The mod ideas have been borrowed from a picture I found on another forum, done by Devious Dog who deserves all credits for them. The case is heading towards vintage but the components are up to date.

Summer has been far below average so far so nothing better to do than play games :)

Thank you! Specs are in my sig. The commander is.... moody to say the least. Still like the idea of software control over the hardware.

Hi PunkisDead ( catchy name ) , Welcome to the OC3D forums.
Very clean and tidy rig you have there , great job.
What is your sound setup ? Speakers , sound output and headphones ?

Thanks again! I feel welcome on this forum already! I usually game with speakers as the wife is not too fussy. Have two Audioengine 5+ paired with an Audioengine S8. Have to turn the volume on the S8 down nearly all the way as it makes the weatherboard shake and the windows rattle :) The mixing panel I just use to divert my music to the living room amp or listen to the media PC music over my speakers (we live in a small house). The headphones are Sennheiser PC333D Game. Nothing to write home about, but they do the job.

I know how you feel, im waiting to get another led node and a few strips so i can run the leds up behind my monitor, so the case matches the monitor effect :)

do you have everything running through the commander?

Sounds ace! Yep, everything runs through Link. Set up my wife's rig with just the H100i and AX760i through Link and liked it so much that I decided to fully integrate it in mine. I have to reset my LED's all the time as they seem to go their own way and display random colours. I used Link so I could fill the case front with two 200mm fans, not having to worry about fan/ light controllers (and who needs a DVD player these days).
I read on several forums that the Link fan module is discontinued. I've noticed that most Link parts are discontinued at all online retailers. Had to order an additional Link cable set directly from Corsair.

I think and hope they might be updating them, as im sure a few people use them. and i just use an external optical drive, incase i wanna watch a blu ray on my pc or for some software.

Your sig will change so please post them.

Would also be nice to see something more in depth on your system in the Rig Gallery?

Reading the thread title i kind of expected a big flight sim setup :D

Nice setup, i do like the open space inside the case, quite clean!

Please post a few more pics :). i'd really like to see more!

I'd also like to know the name of the seller who you bought your Korean panel off and your opinions on the monitor itself.

Very interested in buying a similar monitor in around February.

I have a build log ready, but with only one graphics card, no custom water loop and two stolen mods wasn't sure if it was worth posting on this forum... I will now :)

I bought the monitor off BigClothCraft on Ebay. I think he is one of the early trustworthy cheap monitor resellers. Think there are more now. Received the monitor in less than a week (!!!). Payed $370.00 (he had cheaper ones up on his site, not sure what causes the price differences). Didn't manage to OC it yet, somehow the Nvidea drivers don't pick up the refresh rate changes. Still, the picture quality improvement from my old cheap 24"LG is fantastic. Truly enjoying Stalker COP Misery Mod graphics at the moment.

Dude i absolutly love your desk, it looks so epic.
That old wood look with a lot of battle scars, it just so freaking awesome!

Alright... need to edit this post as things have changed but could not find the edit button anywhere. Basically, the desk I posted in the OP was always a temporary setup. I built a clean working space in the previous apartment that cost me lots of sweat and tears. Photo has to be about 10 years old. PC's are Gateway and Dell :S ;

After we moved I installed all the cabling under the floor and into the wall, but was stuck with an old dining table as a desk (as per OP);

A few weeks ago I finally got a proper desk. The deal was sort of like, I get a new monitor so we need a bigger desk. When we get a bigger desk, my wife can install a working spot next to me since the desk will have enough space... I spent a lot of time getting the cable management right. The best advice I can give anyone is to get a length of slotted duct like they use in switchboard cabinets as it is easy to install, has breakout ports and can hold lots of crap/ cables/ transformers.

Unfortunately the new monitor was slightly bigger than I anticipated and the desk got a bit full...

Most items are necessities so I reckoned the only way to create a bit of space would be to get a proper monitor stand. Looked around on EBay but settled with a genuine stand. Expensive but nice :) The difficult bit was the removal of the original monitor stands. I followed the instructions of this helpful German fellow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj8oA7BhlNE
Good to hear some German again :)

Prying open the monitor casing caused some stress on the plastic parts and also my nerves. Got the hang of it after a bit...

Ready to unscrew the stand!

I know I am supposed to post all this in the OP, just failed to locate an edit button. If a moderator would be so kind it would be much appreciated :)
