"The Beast" - First ever Build

When I made the move from spinnin' to solid, there was no comparison. It's just better. And, you don't need a large expensive one either. I have an Intel 60GB for my OS. The rest is spinnin' storage. At the least, place the OS on a solid and you will love life.
please don't rape my eyes with that font.

The horror of any PC builder :o

  • RAM seated correctly in their sockets?
  • CPU seated correctly?
  • PCU-E cards seated correctly?
  • Fan cables plugged in?
  • CPU cooler installed correctly?
  • Does the monitor display an image during those few seconds?
  • Does the M/B give any error signals (beeps)?
  • Are there any funny noises coming from anywhere (PSU, M/B, GPU)?
  • Have you tried turning it on without the graphics card installed
and using the HDMI/DVI outputs form the M/B?
  • Have you tried installing only one stick of RAM in the socket
closest to the CPU, and in the second socket counting from the CPU?
(this might depend on your M/B, so try both).
  • Have you got a spare set of RAM that you can try?

If any other possibilities come to mind, I'll let you know.

Please don't jack other people's build log threads to ask a question that is irrelevant to the build log. I'm pretty sure that's against forum rules. I'm not a moderator so I can't move it, but there's an off-topic sub-forum for a reason. :)

AW you should've known that

Did I just completely miss something or is he not the OP of this very build log?

:headscratch:

EDIT: Forgot to reload the page before starting to reply. Derp myself

Once again, my bad.... derp :banghead:  :cussing:

I was thinking this was Jay's for some reason. Just forget my post ever happened. I've had a long day lol.

These things happen, don't worry :rollinglaugh:

Also, you can go to your user CP and change the number of posts
displayed per page. This makes build logs a bit more comfortable
to handle.

Just finished installing windows and now updating all the drivers and software... 112 updates haha

Build took just under 4 hours, not sure if thats good or not???? Cables are looking tidy apart from one where I need to get an extension for it.. the 8pin CPU cable and then we'll be sorted!!

I wasnt even planning on building tonight but just had to urge to go for it!

I would say that's quite decent time for a first time build. Besides, what matters
is that the thing works in the end and not how fast you put it together ;)

I usually try not to be too quick to savour the moment a bit (it's a bit like
sex in that regard  )

Ha so true!! So glad its up and running though!! When it didnt load up first time had myself in a major panic thinking what the hell did I do wrong!!

Just so happened I fitted the H80i without plugging in the 8 pin CPU connector hidden underneath it!! Rookie error!!

ALPENWASSER to the rescue :)

All pictures are now up!

Just need to get an extension for the 8pin cpu cable and hide that through the back and the cable management should be sorted!!

Just want to say thanks to all the guys for the support and advice!

Ha my bad!! I was sure i had plugged everything in :p

Everyone is always sure they've plugged everything in

"Have you plugged everything in?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Have you checked?"
"I checked when I was plugging everything in."
"Please, just for the sake of entertaining me, could you check again?"
"Ah, would you look at that! I forgot the power cable!"
":banghead:"

It happens, I'm not immune to disconnected cables either. C'est la vie.
