That time of year again...

Well, as the title says...its that time of year again, outside temps are going up, and folding is making some big heat inside my case....came home from work tonight to find my core temps at 83, 84, 86, 86.....thats C....the window in the room is open, the fan is on, case fans on the antech 900 are all on max, and the CoolIT ECO just can no longer cope....guess its time to lower the OC :( bye bye 4.6 hello 4.2? maybe? unless ppl have ideas? school starts in sept, so cooling upgrades over $50 are out lol

What CPU/volts are you using, I'm running 4.5GHz on a 2500k 1.25v a hyper 212 in 90.F weather and not exceeding 60c on the cpu.

Perhaps pick up a 212? They're like $20 it may seem like the coolit would be a better solution being watercooling and all but looking at the size of the radiator it looks thinner than the fan attempting to cool the liquid.

running my 2500k at 4.6 1.42V will not run stable any lower voltage....dunno y....been running it like this for months now...temps been fine untill the outside temps gone up lol.....i come home to my room like an oven.....and its still not hot outside yet

i have a new CM hyper 101 here for intel, never used it...picked it up for a build that the buyer floped out on....dunno if it would be any better tho...80mm fan

i should just break down, buy a http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/XSPC-Raystorm-D5-RX360-CPU-Water-Cooling-Kit--D5-RX-Series-Kit-pid-15994.html and install the rad outside the case for now.....just havent been able to find a retailer in canada to buy from :( NCIX.com doesnt sell much in the way of complete, good kits

well i droped my clock back to 4.0 at 1.25V....not sure about the voltage tho....seems stable...temps are WAY down back to the 50C range...guess i can go back to folding now

looks like it will level out between 62C and 65C i hope lol

wow, that looks like one seriously thin rad!!! i think any decent air cooler will be better than that :)

1.42 volts on a sandy bridge is to much mate :/ will degrade performance over time, especially 24/7 folding. pick up a decent air cooler like the 212 and lower the volts to below 1.4 so your cpu will last longer and not degrade in performance :)

Well just got a CM hyper 212 on sale for $9.99....should be here wensday...guess when it comes in ill trow up some temps to compare it to the Coolit ECO, and i MIGHT try the hyper 101 i have here just to see how they compare....depends how bored i get LOL

Just checked at current exchange rates that's £6.36 =O That's a third of the cheapest price you can find it online!!

Well, the 212 came in thisafternoon....purolator actualy rang the doorbell at 2pm and it woke me up! so i have a 25 min stress test done on the ECO, running the same again now on the hyper 212.....will post results in a new thread shortly

and the 212 #'s are looking good
