Project Eepy - Modifications

Eepy (Modifications)

It's been about 2 and a half years since I built Eepy (see original project log if you are interested). I was meaning to service her last year but never had a free week to drain, flush and reassemble. But I've finally got round to doing it.

Not only did I give all the blocks and watercooling components a good flush and clean, I also made a couple maintenance modifications. I'm happy with the hardware still so no performance upgrades made.

Specs:
H440
Asus X99-S
i7-5930K
2x Gigabyte GTX970 WF3
Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB 2800MHz
2x Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
Corsair AX860i

Changes:

Drain/fill tap at the top of the case, as draining and filling her is a pain in the nut. The new ball valve has definitely helped with this. The res at the bottom and a valve at the top means air/water can run more freely in/out. The ball value is the EK-AF Ball Valve - Nickel. The loop had to change slightly, so the tube to the CPU block now goes out the side of the rad not the top, where the value is not located.

Access to pump speed dial for adjustments, along with anti-vibration padding for the pump. The D5 isn't PWM so it's powered by a 12v molex. The way the pump positioned means I had to set the speed dial before putting it in, and then it was inaccessible. I had it at 3 but it was the loudest thing in the case (since fans run at 5v and 7v) so I wanted to be able to reduce the speed and change it to find a happy point (now at 1.5 speed and temps are still great). I ended up drilling out a cable tie point and rotating the pump in its housing and then just putting the front PSU shroud cover on with bluetac.

The pump was also vibrating/resonating against the case, which caused a horrible noise now and again, so its now covered top and bottom with neoprene rubber.

New GPU water bridge. I started to dislike the 2 bits of solid tubing I had before, so I've gone and put in the EK-FC Terminal Dual Parallel 3-slot - Plexi bridge. I think it just cleans up some lines and makes it less cluttered.

Lights and cable combs. I've needed more lights for a while as the case is dark apart from the faint RAM lights and 2 LEDs on the CPU/GPU blocks. 2 Coolermaster light bars are in atm, 1 at the bottom and 1 on the right of window. Still playing around with this as not totally happy. Might need to get a new window (glass or acrilic as the factory one is crap and scratched a fair bit tbh).

(the 2 sheep are the names inspiration, Eepy and Mini Eepy on Project Eepy...)

For those interested this is the amount of discolouration clear PrimoChill PrimoFlex tubing has over 2 and a half years. Not much, so ended up not changing any of it.
