Tattoo thread

I never understood the whole tatoo thing and the desire for them. What is it that is appealing to people? Not meant in a mocking way, just wondering. ;)

Some are just for show like an accessory and some are sort of to say you feel strongly about something.

I guess that makes sense. I just know a lot of people who try to conceal them at work. There was this one guy who would wear long-sleeve shirts in the blazing heat, just not to show his tatoos. <He was a school director btw
Just seems like a lot of hassle in my opinion. Anyway, some do look pretty cool, just not my thing... :D

Well if the tattoo was brand new, you can't expose it to the sun too much, and if you've just got a new job, I wouldn't want to show them either. That's why I'm waiting for tattoo's below the sleeves (of a t-shirt) until I have a stable job. :)

There are a number of reasons. Some just like them, others like to be different to the norm, Some have meaning behind them, etc etc. Mine personally has a lot of meaning behind it and its a constant reminder to me to push on when times get rough. That and it looks cool ha.

It depends on a few things. Some jobs may not allow you to show off your tattoos. I would imagine being in an environment with lots of young kids showing off your tattoos may be seen as setting a bad example. Especially as some parents hate them. Other jobs where image and presentation matter for example sales, or finance or even design would not allow your tattoos to be visible. For example mine is on my back because its personal and I don't want to whole world to see it 24/7 but when I am in work after college I don't want it visible. The reason behind this is in the public's eye tattoos are still classed as being a bit rough looking. So if I am trying to pitch something to a client or explain why one design is better over another I do not want them to have a perceived idea of my personality thanks to my tattoos.

There are many reasons why people do not want to them off, mostly work related I would imagine. Then thats the type of society we live in. Hence why all politicians dress a certain way, its to give out an image of respectful/trustworthyness which is bs but it works to the general public.

personally iv two things i think about when i think "do i want this tattoo" 1st is why...... for me they are always linked to something my shoulder one is a phrase that reminds me of my grandad and my back one is a crazy notion that iv a very strange guardian angel looking out for me.

The 2nd is a little more to do with who i choose to ink me and its harder for me to rationalise but id rather spend money on good art and always have it with me if that makes sense?

this is my half done tattoo

i still have another 5 hours work to be done, never realized how had it is taking a picture of it until now haha

i will try get a few pics up of mine, ending up pretty covered, its what happens though when my other half is a tattoo artist in brighton.just continuing what i have when i go down to the studio.haha.i want to be covered from collar bones to toes, but no hands or neck so i can wear a long sleeve shirt and be unknown of tattoos.

its never affected my job and i have two sleeves and to be honest i dont think it will ever affect my job prospects they have become a lot more accepted these days. so more the merrier :D

is that tank girl if so thats pretty awesome

Anyone know a decent shop in London that might be able to squeeze me in next week? Will only be there from Mon-Wednesday. I know it's very short notice but some shops allow you to just walk in for small pieces (reckon this won't take more than half an hour).

What do the rules say about promoting Tattoo parlours/shops? (not in connection to Feronix, sorry dude)
Just my brother in law owns a tattoo shop in Leeds and i'd say it is probably the best tattoo shop in Yorkshire (not being biased). One of his tattoos is probably one of the most recognised on the internet (for the wrong reasons).

Was afraid it'd be the 'Regret Nohing' one :p

But no sorry matey, no advertising here. But... If you did get a tattoo by him you're free to put an image up of your tattoo and mention where you got it done ;)

Still looking for a decent shop in London where I can just walk in!

Aye no problem bud, just wanted to make sure I don't break any rules.
Well the tattoo I uploaded (Page 2) was done there, I am 90% convinced that Rulkez's tattoo was from the same shop.
Won't drop any names as I don't to be banned lol

Figured the clue I left regarding the "regret nothing" tattoo would be obvious lol

You want ink!!?? I'll give you ink!!!!

These will be in order of when i got them :-)

Yeah, I am a colossal geek...

Edit - Why does my Red XIII/Nanaki tatt look different to the one posted earlier in the thread? Official art is why -
RedXIII-FFVIIArt.png

I am also in the process of getting the artwork for the Battle Arena floor done up to go on my back and Red's back leg tatt to go on my thigh.

Arm tatt cost me about $230-250 AUD, Neck tatt cost $70, both done by the same artist who is a friend of mine (and she does excellent work too Aussies. If you're near Brisbane, check her out - Kate at Inked Out Tattoo Studio, located at John Street, Rosewood). The arm I got for my 22nd birthday, so about 6 years ago, and the neck was done in 2013 after I failed an exam to make myself feel better :P

As to the process, I bloody well love the feeling of the gun. Back of the arm was a bit tender, but most of it was fine and the neck was all good. I chat to my tattooist while she works. I hear back tatts are another story, IE quite painful, so we'll see when I go for in for my back (indefinite time period as I prefer to sit and think on each tattoo for a good while before committing to it).
