I have a pair of Logitech Z10 USB speakers and they have suited me just fine for over 2 years. used daily for gaming/music/online videos etc. Never had a mic. never needed one on this rig.
Picked up a very cheap headset including mic. and plugged it into the rear jacks on my Asus P5N32-E SLI plus m/b. Of course they didn't work because when I built the rig just over 2 years ago I didn't bother installing the SoundMax audio utility...installed this and they worked fine....Z10's didn't, they'd been removed from the list of speakers.
Re-booted and Z10's came back to life...headset still present and able to configure/test them but they will not work unless speakers are uninstalled
I think I understand the basic problem but am unable to solve it.....is there a way I can make the headset the default system when I plug it in....then disable it when unplugged?
