Sub-zero Pumps

Well with a bit of good fortune ill be obtaining 2 condensing units soon, all i need too get a few more phase coolers under way. Next project is going too be a chiller, and i need a pump that will be able too cope with these low temps.

Anyone know of any pumps that can tolerate low temps? And where too get them?

Not sure if its any help, but my D5 did just fine when I plumbed a chiller into the loop. As the water wasn't treated, temps were above 0 tho (around 10oc mark)

Sounds like a nice little project. :)

AFAIK pumps like the D5 and DDC are only rated down to 0°C, I dunno what would happen to the plastic housing if you go sub-zero (although there is a D5 with brass housing that is rated down to -10°C). I've heard of people using Danner Mag 3 / Mag 5 pumps in chiller systems but I dunno what temperature they're rated down to.

Im pretty sure the Laing pumps an't much use for low low temp apps due to the rubber seals freezing or something.:(

Iwaki is the name that usually comes up but the ones ive found are either expensive or 110v pluged.

Ill have a look into the mag pumps though, cheers allsorts.

D5 Strong with the Brass housing is good upto -10c

D5 Vario as we more comonly see in the watercooling industry can only go down to 0c (non freezing) probably due to the plastic used in the housing.

The laing site just says upto 60c on the DDC range both types no minimum temperature..
