Not really sure what you expect us to do for you fella? This is Overclock3D.net not Overclockers.co.uk. You would be better off asking them directly.

Not a lot to be fair bud. Jusy after some info. Your probably right. I'll wing a post on there too.

Work mate of mine got his Strix yesterday and he pre-ordered the minute they went live on OCUK, It's a waiting game as everyone is in a queue it seems.

I spoke to a retailer and they said that Asus strix 1080 and 1070 cards have been trickling into retailers. They are expecting substantial numbers around the 15th. There are huge queues with every supplier for strix gtx 1080s. Scan had 400+ pre orders when i last spoke to them and i heard overclockers have more than that.

Nvidia are having serious yield issues with Pascal due to the very high clock rate they wanted to use. They obviously had to make it look as good as they possibly could against the Titan X etc hence the absolutely astronomic clocks.

This means that a lot of the cores they are producing can't hold those clocks or simply don't work at all. They did not use Gloflo either who seem to be belting out AMD's 480 pretty quickly.

Due to that there are shortages and this is only compounded by the fact that Nvidia have pulled this Founders nonsense so of course they get first dibs.

This information comes from a friend of mine in Taiwan who works for Asus.

Also the 1080 is Nvidia's best selling card to date which also contributes to the shortages, Well the founders editions are plentiful it's just the AIB versions that are in short supply.

A simple google search could have gotten you the answer within seconds ^_^

The GeForce GTX 1080 Is The Best Selling High-End Card Ever Released – AIBs Confirm

Doesn't really mean much considering they never had much stock in the first place. So for them adding another 200 cards into the retail chain would be a leap above what it was before. And at these prices with everyone willing to spend more these days(economy recovering) don't really think it's all that great. Take away all this inflation and it's probably not that much more. I laugh at every 1080/1070 card sold. Everyone is getting ripped harder than ROG tax. You could literally build a kick*** PC for the amount one 1080 sells at.

No actual numbers mentioned just "It's selling better than any product evar".

The 970 is their best selling card to date and to sell as many as that you would need the whole of Taiwan making them for you so I cry BS.

According to some OCUK peeps I've talked to every AIB card they have minus 1 or 2 has been pre-ordered up the wazoo, 500+ just for the strix, Same number goes for the EVGA FTW, Zotac Amp Extreme, MSI Gaming X etc... so everything that comes in for the next few weeks is already gone so I'd say that's quite impressive as far as sales go.

A lot of people were probably holding out for the new process is the first place and given AMDs lack of a high end release for now, many probably just lost their patience and went with the 10XX.

Seriously though, when are those damn mobile chips coming... REALLY WANT TO UPGRADE THE LAPTOP!!

Think about it. 500 Strix VS every 970 sold since September 18, 2014. That's almost two years.

I would imagine the amount of 1080s sold is absolutely nowhere near those of the 970. It just isn't possible logically. It's also even more unbelievable because Nvidia are absolutely 100% having yield issues due to the massive clock speeds of the 1080.

You will get evidence of this when the 1060 "launches". Notice I have used speech marks for launches because there will probably be a huge pause between launch and be available to buy.

Right now Nvidia are trying to make as many working 1080s and 1070s as they can and they can't shift production onto the 1060 as there is far less money in it for them. That's why -

1. They did not do what they've been doing for years and launch the low end part first (like they did with the 960)
2. They did not even launch the 1060 with the 1080 and 1070.

I'm not blaming you for this Dice, you've obviously read it because you posted a link but I'm not having that at all (the information in the link, not you).

It's BS. Probably some dreamed up figure like "Hey, look at the % of working cores vs the dead ones we're selling !" - which could be easily twisted into "best selling card ever" or even something as simple as how many cards they have made and sold in % but not total amount.

There's absolutely no way they have sold more 1080s than 970s though.

You're probably right, Marketing buzz ^_^
