Looks like they may have done it to a damaged card just incase something went wrong.

my money is on it being a benchmark card and the whole thing has been covered in grease to prevent condensation buildup from whatever cooling was used. top end benching is an expensive business

God you have no idea the toll it takes on hardware. It may be a cover on a vmod spot as well.

Yeah, if I ever benched subzero I'd do anything I could in my power to NOT use grease in and around the socket, and nailpolish on the SMD's. Bleh.
