Stop cards from sagging (that age old problem)

Hey there guys. I currently own an ASUS DCUII 770. Even though this card still has a backplate, it still sags a fair amount. Now, I am sending this card back as the VRM temps are insane. The card I am considering buying is the Sapphire Tri-X 290. Now, this card is longer, heavier and does not have a backplate, so I am guessing it is going to sag like CRAZY.
Currently I have my PCI-E cable "sitting" oh my hard drive cages which then connects to my GPU, making it be pushed up slighty. but other than that, I really can't think of anything.

Anyone got an answer to this age old problem?

I'm using a Kraken G10 and Corsair H50 on my card, so it sags quite a bit, but I'm in the middle of solving it with a sort of 'support tower' that extends to the floor of the case. Shouldn't be hard to fabricate one of these with just about anything. I'm making mine out of small-scale metal scaffolding and painting black.

Currently using a define R4, with the HDD bays in the left position. The length of the 770 is just too short to stick something on top of the cages to wedge between them and the card. Although I imagine the Tri-X 290 will be long enough to do that. Think its a good idea?

I don't want it to look ugly... >.<

In my 800D I used a black plastic center spindle from a (100) cd/dvd pack to prop up the end of my card.
They are easy to cut to size and don't actually look bad.

you could use something like a few loops of fishing line to the top of the case and down and it should be thin enough not to look to ugly

I made my own support bracket it's not really a rocket science job but it works and it was sooooo simple! I was putting up a shelf when I had the idea.

I never thought of that.... What a great idea, I wonder if I could put a nice design in it or something, perhaps something of a case mod?

Scythe do something called Ninja Wire for this. Is quite hard to get hold of in the UK but I got it off Ebay.

You could do a larger full length bracket that uses 3 spare bay screws and encorporate some sort of PCI cable holder into it
