Heya guys! I'm new here.. So I figured I'd join the madness.
My current 3570k rig is getting on a bit.. Even with the AMD 290Tri-x upgrade last year. It's done ok as I've learnt how 3D design and printing works... But yeah. Old. Thus Steve was born.
5960x CPU.
32gb DDR4 - probably G.skill 2400MHz.
Nvidia GTX Titan X
Sabertooth X99 motherboard.
Intel 730 series 240gb SSD for the boot/gaming drive. Blame Linus...
Samsung 850 Pro 512gb SSD for a working drive.
Corsair 780T case.
Corsair HX850i 80 Plus Platinum 850W Power Supply.
Fractal Design kelvin S36 AIO Might rig another in the loop up for cooling the Titan at some point.
I'd love to throw in an NVME M.2 stick for faster work at some point as well after they start coming to stores. Or even one of the current SM951's reviewed by Tom recently.
Mass storage is going to happen on the elder rig and a bunch of WD green HDD's via a gigabit connection between my desk and the old rigs new location next to the tv downstairs.
Weird thing... I won a Samsung S34E790C 34" 4k curved screen via a Samsung Aust Competition on Friday... Along with the 850 Pro SSD. So looks as if this rig will be almost utterly perfect for my work, gaming and some super sneaky CGI Trek that's coming in the future.
I've won things before... Its just most of them have been of the ''oh sorry you'll have to take these pills for the rest of your life'' variety. Happy days!
Still waiting on the Sabertooth to make it to Australia... Should be here mid way through next month according to the stores.
Save for the competition win all of its been paid for with Star Trek prop commission work. Not bad really. Almost proud of myself.
Gaming wise it'll probably only be running ARMA3(+mods), Star Wars Battlefront when it comes and STO. Grey goo as well, but its not as if that's a particularly intensive game.
Pictures or it didn't happen... And of course more to follow once its finished and up and running.
Am I doing this right?
