Star Wars: Battlefront Beta is now available For Preload

Anyone played the included single player? It's not bad, could be really fun on a console. The weapons could use a little tweaking. It seems like my guns are a little more powerful when playing as the empire. Not a big fan of the Hoth map, but have a blast playing the first one.

I played splitscreen with a friend of mine vs the AI. It only went to round 7 iirc but was quite hard for us because every time the AT ST spawned it was right next to us and basically one shots you:p

Aint going to lie, the graphics in this game are way better then I anticipated. I have a 280x on the 1st gen i7 and it runs smooth as butter.

Yeah me and a friend have played it on PC a few times, Did all 6 rounds and our fastest time so far is roughly 5 minutes ^_^

Its a pretty game. Not a great (or even particularly good) game but I think it still has promise. I find it more enjoyable if you take you nostalgia googles off and treat it as a non battlefront game. The audio is the best I've heard in a game in a long time however.

Just found out it's pretty much multiplayer only, no campaigns.

A great way to save myself fifty quid.

Thankfully it doesn't launch until after Fallout 4 any way so no doubt I wouldn't have got it no matter how good it was.

I got it for free from my sort of to be girlfriend as she knows I'm a huge star wars fan and I've been talking about it so that saved me 50 notes ^_^

Season pass just announced. Add another $60.00 to the game... less interested now but fanboi in me says I'm gonna buy it regardless.

I'm thinking of going to the cd key site my gf got the game from, Getting a refund and buying Elite Dangerous as I just played Drop Pod, Walker Assault and Survival and it honestly did nothing for me.

I need space !!! ^_^

Yeah ED is really good value for money with hours played. Horizons expansion looks really interesting as well.

I wonder what the DLC for Battlefront will be? Maybe they'll introduce the space dogfights. Hope so.

I only read that there is a deluxe (pay to get the unlocked blasters) you get two weeks early access to all DLC (4 expansion packs) and an exclusive 'shoot first' mode.

Read it here: http://starwars.ea.com
and here: http://games.on.net/2015/10/star-wars-battlefront-ultimate-edition-season-pass/
(not sure if external links break forum rules??)

I've mainly gone off getting Battlefront as I just don't like the idea of it just being basically a big death match game and co-op PvE being tacked on the side.

I'll be getting ED as soon as the refund of BF goes through, Hopefully in the next few hours :)

So, after 2 days of playing the beta (i came in late), overall Its pretty much exactly what i expected. The game ran smoothly and crossfire appeared to be working correctly (except for some massive flickering on the rewards screen after every mission) which was nice. The game looked great as well.

Unfortunately the game play was exactly what i expected. It felt far too generic FPS'y. In the end what it really suffered from was the same thing as all online shooters, that being that the game was fine, but the players let it down way too often. Playing as the rebels on hoth is hard enough without your entire team camping way behind the points you need to capture and never moving on them, something which happened most of the time on that map. The Pod-capturing deathmatches were better, but felt unmistakably COD like.

The real thing that i think lets it down is content (and a single player campaign). I just cant justify paying full price for what is there. I'll probably pick it up down the line somewhere when the price has dropped right down and i dont have to fork out $20 for each of the DLC's that only contain what EA has no doubt deliberately withed from being in the game from the start.

Make sure you order Horizons, not just the base game ;)

The main reason for this is because the tactic of grabbing the orbital barrage and hiding until the end is now basically the winning tactic for rebels, since the video about that went out I haven't seen a game where they lose.

(To explain, you grab the powerups till you find the orbital barrage, which is a very rare pickup, then hide and stay alive until a y-wing attack, time it perfectly and you can drop the AT-ATs health by around 80% in one hit, so they basically save it until the very end and get a nice easy win.)

Funny how it flip flops as people figure stuff out, I guarantee the Orbital Barrage gets nerfed prior to release

Also, season pass was the nail in the coffin on this one for me, pretty much gonna let that sail by until they do a 'premium edition' for the price of full game now..

Yeah that was the point where it stopped even being a question for me as well. No chance.

Plus, I just dont see EA being able to balance the game properly, not until months after the release at least. Things like the orbital barrage are the perfect example, if the rebels get it then they win. if nobody does, then they loose 90% of the time. I have faith it'll be a worthwhile game.... at some point down the line

Yep, I think they just shot themselves in the foot with the announcement of the season pass :p
I was just starting to think about getting a cheap CD key for £29 on CDKeys.com until I saw the announcement of the season pass. That plus my lack of faith in DICE balancing or fixing things in a timely fashion made my mind up.

I'll grab a Rainbow Six Siege key for £20 insteasd :)

Ya I agree with you. Just goes to show they really are milking the star wars name. I'd much rather spend my money on RB Siege. That game is actually fun and has freelc planned:)

The season pass is a lot of money :( But if I have fun with the full game I can't see me resisting picking it up, just hope I'll get it cheaper some how.

no no i mean buy horizons, as you get base game with it

Shame that if you have the game already you get a £10 discount on Horizons but really you end up buying the original game twice. The difference between ED and ED Horizons is only $15.00. I know lots of work goes into it but do I feel a bit ripped off in that respect..

Is it worth £45? yeah totally. (I bought (backed??) back in Dec 13 and then added beta)

Is Horizons worth the extra dough over standard? Completely.

Just wish there was a way to pay just for the extra component. (or even gift the original game component when I buy Horizons)

Yes I missed the lifetime expansion pass. Can't blame anyone else for that.

Long story short - Dicehunter buy Horizons you won't be disappointed. (Assuming you can play the standard game until Horizons is released)
