Star Wars: Battlefront Beta is now available For Preload

Just played for a good lil session and I have to say, performance wise yeah it works pretty nicely on my machine, no lag, handles graphics on high ok (not tried ultra yet).

Gameplay however... really really lacking. Vehicles pop out of thin air, no climb/jump over animation/mechanic meaning you get stuck on trying to get up ledges occasionally, beta maps at least are dull as dishwater. I know people hate it when you say it but it really feels like COD with a Star Wars Skin and not even battlefield with a star wars skin which would at least have a little more depth. At the moment i'm really disappointed, would love to hear your thoughts guys?

My feelings exactly after playing a few hours of it, Yes it's entertaining but it really does feel like CoD Advanced Warfare with a Star Wars skin and soundtrack :(

It's absolutely gutting :( . The Battlefront franchise was always so fun! I feel like this is just a money grab game that has had v little love put into it.

This for me sums up the new Battlefront quite well compared to the prior titles -

It is one hell of a cluster *uck, I have only played walker assault and it is pretty terrible.
Infantry is just cannon fodder for all the turrets, AT-ATs and Walkers.

The infantry combat feel really stiff with no skill to it, you just spam your riffle and hope for the best. All the rifles feel the same as well, some fire faster than others but that is about it. The DLT-19 is the best one and there really is no point in using the others once you unlock it.

I'm not a big Star Wars fan as it is, but even if I was it still wouldn't be enough for me to want to buy this. Rainbow Six Siege for me this year, maybe if DICE get their act together i'll buy BF5 next year.

I've been pleasantly surprised. I hate Battlef1ield gameplay and prefer CoD, and I did worry that it would be Battlefield with a Star Wars skin, but it's not.

Walker assault took a few games to get my bearings as at first it was just a clusterf***. Later I really started enjoying it, though it seems the Rebels never win. Not sure if that's because my teammates weren't shooting the AT-AT at the right time though.

In terms of the Beta, it performs very well and match makes exceptionally fast. Felt like it had zero loading screens. No real lag either. Those 2 game modes are quite tedious after several hours so I hope that the locked ones are much better.

I just hope they introduce more single player/co-op content as I'm not a big fan of PvP.

me neither im more pve myself Dice

Same here - especially when playing on servers that give other users significant advantages. Eg. WoT where our ping is around 160 on a good day playing against others who are complaining when they get to 30...

Plus hacks. bots. etc. I don't get how anyone can enjoy that apart from the satisfaction of 'because I can' or 'want to see you rage'

Anyways. Love the visuals of Battlefront. Really enjoyed I and II back in the day. Have to reserve judgement on gameplay until I get it downloaded.

Exactly why I won't buy it. Its a crap game specifically for cash grab purposes. It's not a true Star Wars title nor is it the Battlefront it should have been. I don't care if it's not like BF or COD, It's definitely not Star Wars.

Wow, so much hate guys. I actually quite enjoy playing it. It's nice to have a PvP game that seems to work from the start. As for it not being Star Wars? Really? I will reserve full judgement for when I play the full release. The game works well, everything on ultra on a 970 yields 80-85 fps, it plays smoothly and has quick load times. As a game to be able to just jump in and get some fast paced action, it fits the bill.

Well, I just tried it on my rig which consists of an AMD Phenom x4 955, 4gb of DDR2 800mhz, and an R9 280X.

Played brilliantly, looks awesome, no stuttering or lag.

Man, I love this game.

Don't need to wait to reserve judgement. Just playing the beta and all the content that is not even included. Idc if it is optimized. It's missing 95% if what star wars is.. Space battles. Its a game using the star wars brand for a quick cash grab. I wouldn't doubt if all the space stuff came as "expansions" when that should have been in the game from the start. Much easier to make a game run butter smooth when half the content isn't there. If I wanted a game where I could jump and get fast paced action, I'd play COD or really any game tbh

It is Star Wars. Star Wars PvP. Just because it doesn't include what you personally think it should, doesn't mean that it ain't Star Wars...

I would have personally preferred a campaign only game rather than PvP only. Still, the game in its current state still runs well for a BETA.

A PvP only game SHOULD NOT cost the full $60. It shouldn't cost more than $10 since there is almost no content in the game. It should be F2P or subscription based for a PvP only title. If it had a full campaign and star battles etc, then $60 sure but as of now with what's included, not worth more than $20 at best.

I know it runs good, I didn't deny that. I've even played it on Xbone and was pretty good too

Lol what a load of baloney, do you have any idea how much time and dev went into the title that it should cost $20 at most?

Also it's NOT PvP only, there's a missions bit too, granted, it's horde mode. But it's still not PVP only. It has AI in it.

For all your moaning, have you played it? Have you seen how authentic and true to the films (4 5 and 6) it looks and sounds? It's stunningly well done.

This is very much you and your opinions creeping over the line into what you consider facts dude, and you're wrong. Production on this scale, with this polish doesn't come cheap.

After playing a few hours, it has kind of grown on me a bit. At first it felt pretty bad but once people (and me) learned the map, what to do and where to go it got much better.
DICE still can't do balance well though, they still don't know how to make maps that are not one sided. The Hoth map is so one sided it is unbelievable.

The Drop Zone game mode can be good fun though, it is almost like a game of chess at times trying to predict the enemies next move and flanking them before they can get to the next drop pod.

I never played any of the previous Battlefront games so I can't draw comparisons. This version is very "arcadey" and obviously focused on being more accessible and casual. It is fun, but at the same time it can be frustrating because of DICE being DICE and lol balance.

I wont be buying it, maybe in the sales next year, but it isn't high on my to get list.
