What are people's honest opinion on SC?

I'm considering buying a x52 pro and SC.

I have the x52 pro and sc, im not using the stick for that game as of yet, as for the game, ive spend way to much on it, i love the idea and the 2 ships i have currently are prettymuch all i need to enjoy the scope of the game immensely.

If your on the fence, there are free fly weekends where you can test out whats currently available but keep in mind, its still so small and early days for the game, there's still far to much in production and its going to take years.

Yeah just popped on the website and there's a free fly thing on now for a week, I don't have a joy stick but if I enjoy the game play etc there's no doubt il get one and the game it would be just have to decide what ship to start with lol

Well the thing is, everything is first person, and so walking around might be a bit tricky with a joystick in the way, on my current setup the keyboard is behind the joystick when i use it and the mouse is besides it, which makes it a bit odd to use.

That said, once the game is out and there can be hours and hours of flying fun in one sitting, its likely i will use my stick more, but for now its just for elite dangerous.

I normally use a hotas setup but am in the middle of building a simpit for sc so for the last while I have been using them/kb for flying, and gotta say it's not the worst and you will get a good idea of the game as is and once you do I bet you will want to join the party ;)

I played it today for about half hour as it was free to play and tbh I struggled to get the hang of it lol So many functions etc and kept getting disconnected for what ever reason lol think il wait for another free to play week so I can spend more time playing and see if I like enough to invest in the game and maybe a HOTAS.

There are a lot but you don't need Them all for basic flight m8, Just (W throttle up,A slide left,S Throttle down,D slide right) and QE for roll and your mouse for steering, SPACE for straight up like a helicopter and L/CTRL straight down(use these for take off/landing),F is your use key.
To bring up the destination icons use B then centre your crosshair on it then hit F to quantum jump to that location.

If you want to watch some gameplay check my channelhttps://youtu.be/48CZxKGzp4g

And disconnects do happen the cryengine netcode is at it's limit and they are rewriting at at the moment so just jump back in if you get a disconnect.

Hope that helps

Thanks buddy.

It is something il be considering, Gonna see if I can't get some other people from my community to get involved.

To soon to say now, but i wouldn't be surprised to not see it on steam for a looong time.

Well I have a SC package I got free with my old 295X2, An AMD themed ship and basic access to arena and such but would prefer it all through 1 games platform instead of it spread out, I already have too much, Steam, Origin, Uplay, Battle.Net, Rockstar and GOG.

I know, same issue with me, but even if it was on steam, you'd still need to login on the launcher, so really, it makes no difference. you can still run the launcher through steam, but i don't even know if the overlay works currently with the game, i have not tried in a while.

Also many more games put a launcher in front of it or require a client, so the thing of having it all on steam is basically pointless now, which sucks balls but on the other hand, i now usually buy games directly from the developer and not have steam take a 30% cut when it's not needed, more money to devs, less to greedy valve, but thats an entirely different topic.
