SSD Choice

Alrite, i have no idea what to do with the SSD :P, but yeah..i think i'll need speak to a few people so i know what im doing

Will this be a fresh install or migrating windows? Fresh install is easier but requires more work.

how does a fresh install equal more work? plus fresh install will set up windows trimm by default where as migrating would need you to run a few command lines to make sure it's on.

Personally from what i've noticed with SSD's i'm not entirely sure the human brain and eye can actually quantify the difference in speeds and really notice much of a difference due to it being entirely digital so i would say keep an eye out on overclockers as they normally have deals of the week and grab an SSD for better money rather than differences in speeds your barely going to notice.

You won't notice any difference but you will feel a difference.

When using a computer at college, even the ones with i5s in. I can see that word/excel/access, Firefox and everything else is loading slower than my PC and where you notice it even more is opening Photoshop or expression web.

The SSD has arrived this morning, so guys, would i just need to disconnect my old HDD, change bios settings to ACHI, install a new OS on my SSD, and jobs a good en?

yup will not take long installing to an SSD either.

after just reconenct your old hdd then you can do what you want with it, it may not show in my computer if it doesn't

right click on my computer and manage
select disk managment on the left side list
click on your HDD and click import.

I had to do this when i first installed on my ssd.

Thinking of buying a 120gb SSD in the next week or so, i've looked at two different ones, and im not sure which is better.

If you have any other suggestions for around £80-90 for an SSD. Please say

Thanks

From a hardware point of view then the sandisk is the better choice, From a software point of view then the Samsung is a good choice and is also bit better value for money both perform about the same, Myself I would go for the sandisk as I don’t feel the need for the software, So at the end of the day ask yourself do I need the software or not?
