SSD advice plox

(Ell oh ell) okay Alien whatever you wish to say.

All I'll say is, I "recommend" you read over what you've said because despite your claims you're certainly coming off as argumentative. If you think that's not the case, then again resort to what I said above.

ONTOPIC: I can only recommend Samsung 840 Pros. I have 2 they are flawless in every way I hoped they would be. Super fast boots, super fast loading etc. I will be picking up a third and forth shortly.

I'm not entirely sure why you would need them in RAID 0, but hey, I bought a 3930k and 32gb of ram, so who am I to talk :P

The way I read up on it, you need on-drive Garbage/Trim because the OS doesn't do it when it encounters the RAID array, regardless of chipset etc. (There may be more up to date information on this, but the fact that Tom said it makes me believe this is still the case).

Would be absolutely spot on. It's down to the RAID controller. Windows sends the TRIM command but it bounces at the RAID controller so it can not communicate directly with the drives themselves.

I'm not sure if any one has drives that can do it themselves tbh. I did hear rumours aaages ago that Kingston were going to do it with their V-Now or whatever they're called but never checked to see if it had happened.

Oh yeah that was it !

Basically Intel were designing a RAID controller that allowed TRIM to work. Ironically it would only work with Intel SSDs

Not sure what became of that...
