Speed or Storage

Hello everybody.

i just wanted to ask, i hear alot of the solid hard drives, and the Western Digital VelociRaptor drives, wich are extremely fast, but at a price.

iam a big space spender, becouse i download and install alot. i want a hard drive at a price with a prefered price around 100 euro's but i still want it to be in gamers grade if u guys know what i mean, i dont know if solid hard drives are really so important for good gaming results, becouse i had my eyes on the Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB SATA2, it gots 7200 rpm, and a 32 MB cage, next to that wich makes it special for a 1tb hard drive is that it is made with 3 platters, instead of 4, wich makes it less hot, and more efficient, and the Filewrite score on PCMark05 beats all 1tb drives avaible right now.

the main question i want to ask is, must i go for a even faster drive with less storage and with an higher price, or go for this 1 terra drive wich is greatly priced and with good results.

Thanks

Rob

the F1 1tb is a great drive, and unless you are used to raptor raid or something similar, it will be very fast!

ok nice, well i never used raids with raptors, i got 1 maxtor 160 gb wich worked for me, but sins iam going for the antousiast hardware, i just dont want a weak link in any of my hardware:D

just had my eye on the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000, its faster in speed than the samsung, (samsung= 8,9 ms, hitachi= 8,2 ms)

So what is the fastest drives apart from Raptor?

I have a Raptor X 150gb at the moment ,but really I need a bit more space, say 300gb. I have to say I am not a fan of my Raptor because it is the noisiest drive I have ever used! Yes its fast but quite annoying with it's grinding noises. So I am looking to replace it as my C drive. Can anyone help with the best speed and reliable drive you would go for? I don't really want anything as big as 640 gb as my C drive?

Thanks.
