Spec me a decent vacuum

Looking to get a decent vacuum cleaner but don't want to spend hundreds, I'm coming from an old fashioned bag type one so anything moderately modern would be an upgrade.

All suggestions welcome.

We just bought a Shark vacuum to replace an ~18 year old Dyson. Seems good so far, believe we paid about $150 for it, but they have a ton of different models.

I've always rated Dyson and heard good things about shark. They are pricey but tend to see some decent deals on them regular.

Problem with any vacuum (or hoover as I know it), is they all suck.

Badum tsssssssssssh.
