SP fans on 4-pin header?

I bought a CM HYper 212 EVO and I want to swap out the fan with a Corsair SP 120 because I think it'll perform better and look nicer. Will my motherboard still be able to control the fan speed even though it is a standard 3-pin fan? Will there be any buzzing?

You would be far better off with an SP fan than AF. If it's a 3 pin fan then you won't get pwm. just set it up properly with a voltage reducer and you're set.

yeah sorry changed to SP. I want to use an AF for my exhaust. Is there a PWM version of the SP?

The reason I want PWM is for it to spin at next to zero percent on idle (I live in a very cold place) and spin up when I game or render.

I've no idea, think i've seen them somewhere but they might have been the AF120's not the SP120's. If you set it to 7v then it would be fine. They're pretty quiet fans.

The SP's are availible in pwm flavour. I would go for that imho.

Wootware.co.za - I think they only carry the SP120 DC (3pin) fan and not the SP120 PWM fan.
