Sound deadening matting stuff?

Hello i have a few questions regarding soundproofing.

Which is the best stuff to go with?
And..
Do you think it's worth doing and cost effective?

I suppose the is it worth it is really down to your preference. If trying to remove as much sound as possible is valuable to you then yes.. if you're doing it for the sake of it, probably not ?

It can be done well, and look 'okay' or it can be done a little half arsed and look pants as well.

I assume if you're considering it there must be a reason?

Yes i just want my system to be as quiet as possible. It's not really essential, thats why i ask if it would make a big difference or not. If it reduces system noise by a reasonable amount then i think i'd like to try it.

How much of it do you need? I planned of covering every side apart from the front and back, or is that overkill? - Assuming i decide on going with it.
