Hi All,

I would like to get sound card to improve my gaming experience but not sure which to go for...

I want to boost the sound quality from my Bose computer speakers and also my razor gaming headset which is a USB input compared to the normal input jack with the bose....

My current mobo is below....

Thanks for your help.

Your usb headset will not be improved, this is why you should never buy usb driven audio devices.

i have just ordered a Asus Xonar D2 for my brothers computer and apparently it's one of the top contenders for its relatively cheap price.

EDIT: sorry it was the xonar essence and this card has quiet different I/O's

personally i don't game much at all these days so i currently use my audio technica studio headphones.

i would suggest using higher end headsets from Sennheiser or steelseries, the others use cheap crappy drivers that produce muddy sounds.

buying from Sennheiser or steelseries sacrifices the music listening experience but they sound godly in most games.

EDIT: also don't buy into 5.1 and 7.1 headsets as they're utterly pointless as there just isnt enough space between your ear and the speaker to differentiate the sounds to create a "surround" or separated sound experience.

Buy a pair of quality stereo headsets!

I have Asus Xonar D2 and Steelseries Siberia V2(white

) and I have to say that sound is really really good and clear. You cant go wrong with any of this products. Hope that this will be helpful for you.

Or should I go for the asus xonar essence STX for the added headphone amp boost?

I never tested Xonar Essence STX so I dont know how much better it will perform with headset, but I'm pretty sure that it will be at least bit better. But overall Xonar D2 is a really good card, and its cheaper than Essence STX, so if you want to save some money and still have bloody good sound card go for D2, but if headphone amp is really important for you(I never used sound card with amp) than go for Essence STX.

Maybe somebody on forum have this card and can share info about it with you. I think you should wait for that opinion. And the best will be person that used both of this cards.

Also you can do some reasearch, Im sure that somebody did compare this cards somewhere.

Good luck.
