Small talk & Chit chat

What's your source? If true, I hope that's not indicative of the pricing of all Z590 boards. If 250 doesn't buy a decent board for 24/7 overclocking, it's a tough sell.

On another note -29c this morning. My old Citroën started up like a champ, though I had very little in the way of power steering or brake assist, I guess LHM was somewhat stiff. :D

So apparently the upcoming MSI MEG Z590 Godlike board for Intel's 11th gen launch will be launching at $1,020 USD.

Who the heck in their right mind would buy a board this expensive. That's more money than one month of what rent would be in many places in the US. Absolutely ridiculous.

Asus Rog Extreme Glacial will cost 1500euro. Whats going on... AMD competition was supposed to create a competitive price war. Its like everyone is in on the scam to pushing things ever upwards.

If these prices are a taste of what's to come we could very well see many people simply abandoning PC, It happened a fair few years ago and it can happen again.

is it bad that I want the Z590 Meg Godlike.. that is truely stunning. Could this gen be my final reason to upgrade...

All i miss now is a monoblock from BP.

Why upgrade to a dead platform?

The next round of products will be DDR5 and that's a pretty big reason to wait since your current build is good. Don't forget the other improvements to the cpu getting better and other technology that gets updated (like TB4/USB4)

Two year court case is now over.

I won several months ago, and was awarded a certain amount. This is with my old landlady, for not securing my deposit. And a miracle happened.

So basically she didn't turn up at court, hence I won. However, I knew she would not pay. She was offered to settle for £548 18 months ago and refused. It is now multiples of that (not going to go into how much for personal reasons).

Any way, the day before the solicitor was due to remove the funds from her account she walked into the building society and closed her account.

In October I was told I had to pay £160 for a bailiff to go and collect the money, however, I knew I would not get it.

Now this was a "no win no fee" case, however, if you win (which you will, or they would not take it on at all) but you can't get the person to pay you are left in a £550 hole in solicitor's fees. But it is more than that. At the beginning you pay £1xx pounds (I can't remember the precise amount) in insurance for if she counter sues. It's refundable, but only if they get the money from her. There is also another one I had to pay that was roughly the same. And then of course the £160 for the bailiff. If they can not recover that from her you lose that too.

I got an email a few weeks ago from the solicitor saying they had heard from the bailiff. That was it. I thought "Oh F no, they can't find her and I am going to have to pay". Then about four days ago I get this letter from the solicitor.

Followed by a request for my bank details so they can pay me via BACS.

Now I thought this was really, very strange. And here is why.

My old neighbours had to pay to get the building completely renovated outside (the council said if the shared freeholders don't get it done they will, then send the bill) so my old neighbours footed the bill (£8k) and then tried to recover the split from the rest of the owners. All paid apart from my old landlady. They took her to court, they won, they sent a bailiff after her and the bailiff could not find her on account of her owning about 15 properties all over the UK.

In the end my landlady had to pay when I moved out, as she had to go to the flat (it is under prohibition). So she paid them then when they caught her. However, they don't like her at all. Just like me I suppose.

So I am thinking "Bloody nora, how did they find her so easily?" get this, you won't believe this s**t.

So on the evening I got that letter there I phoned my old neighbour. We got chatting, for about 30 mins, then she said..

"Look, I shouldn't tell you this because I broke the law and it was really naughty.. About two weeks ago I was down in the hallway fuming at your old landlady because she owes us even more money and again she hasn't paid. So I opened her mail and one of the letters was from a bailiff. So I waited until she turned up here (again she had to) and I phoned the bailiff and said "She's here, come and get her !". And they did. Caught her right outside my old flat.

That's karma, and irony and a miracle all rolled into one that there.

Wow that's cool dude that they got her, a real case of what goes around comes around eh, congrats on the little windfall and that you won't be out of pocket.

I'm so Effin peeved right now as my new 6800XT is constantly black screening I think it's done it about ten times since I've had it, so I'm seriously thinking of changing over to a 3080 as this sort of crap has been happening since RDNA was first introduced, I only had a couple with the 5700XT I owned but this is starting to give me the es

Not sure if you had the same issue as me, but don't use the presets set the card to automatic default that way the amd drivers don't interfer with the cards clocks.

In the adrenalin drivers check on the performance tab, tuning and check it's set in there as i found anything other than auto default the card would not be stable unless i was doing a manual overclock.

I was getting a lot of game crashes and driver crashes unless i had it set to auto default since then the card has been rock solid.

The drivers I'm using atm are the 20.12.1 there is a 20.12.2 but the only change was coolermaster rgb control.

Only other thing I can suggest that i done was to download DDU and go into safe mode and clean out all driver traces and then install 20.12.1 and see if it helps you.

Ah right thanks buddy, upon checking it's on auto default and it's a clean install of Windows with 20.12.1 as I thought it was 20.12.2 that was a fault after the first load of crashes so I formatted and went to the WQHL driver but with the same result, looks like I'm stuck with it for awhile as the company I bought it from told be they can't RMA it as they have nothing to replace it with for three months!

It's a good card hopefully your issues will get sorted out, idk what else too suggest then, since your on the newer chip did you enable any of the bios settings for that direct vram thing might be worth trying at least.

It's been solid for me thou and i was getting annoyed until mine was sorted not fun never knowing when something might go haywire, but i've had no issues since and it's very much a beast of a card, so hopefully a driver update might fix your issues cause getting a card is already hard enough as it is.

Cheers Buddy I really hope it is just a driver issue as the card is almost silent and my room can get very hot and the hottest I've had this one get to whilst playing Star Citizen was 70c and for an unoptimized game has been butter smooth.

Only time the fans spin up on mine is when doing ray tracing, for the most part it runs all them kind of games fine just waiting on cyberpunk to get updated could be a while :)

more fps would be nice watchdogs legion is the only one where I turn the settings down a touch 40+fps is pretty decent for a single player game tbh it looks nice enough, but it plays others really well like BFV ect metro exodus looks the nicest imo.

Non raytraced games thou it just chews through them really a huge upgrade over my old 970's :D I love it and VR has been a nice experience apart from my early issues i'm suprised just how well it all works with all the things I'd heard for ages i've had very minor issues.

Edit: I guess more context is in order, this is a screenshot from Jimms, which is one of the main hardware retailers in Finland. And the one considered the go-to shop for enthusiasts. Nowadays a Caseking subsidary.
