Small talk & Chit chat

All those power connections though! Even top end TRX40 boards don't need that much!

Honest question, what reason would anyone have to choose that and a W-3175X over the 3990X? Other than hexa-channel memory and specific Intel workloads..

Mining board ? honestly have no clue. Or the reason for all the PCIE slots. IT looks fat with features that try to cater for all users while not quite dedicated to one area.

It looks like something you can break world records with and LN2. But it has no PS/2 support on the IO. Given USB goes to crap when using extreme clocking under LN2. But that cost above all else is crazy.

It may have a PLX chip or two to provide more lanes. In which case it would make a good render farm or something.

4 8 pin is pretty insane, but so are power draws from these new massively cored CPUs. You're talking like 500w.

So imagine running two 16 core Intel CPUs. You'd need two 8 pin per CPU, given that most boards use two 8 pin for one CPU now in HEDT.

Mine has a 8+4 and it's only 8 phase.

It doesnt have a PLX. But regardless. I dont see it having a place in the market at all for any reason. Render farm? maybe, but AMD is far more efficient.

This made me laugh

-SafeBoot button to reset the motherboard and go into the BIOS with last known good settings without clearing CMOS

As if to say, "we know our bios is still terrible, so at least we have a way to help you when it crashes" :D

Yeah EVGA never had great BIOS. Ever. They're very quirky.

No doubt it'll end up in the hands of overclockers, given it's more of a willy waving product than a bread and butter one.

Yeah, there are some workloads that can make heavy use of some newer Intel instructions, or that might scale better with higher IPC, or that might need some of the Xeon exclusive features kept on here for security/software compatibility reasons, but I doubt any CPU that ends up in a board like this will be used for any of those things. I doubt many would survive very long anyway.

but think like this.

You need a BIOS with good legacy mouse/keyboard support if you are going LN2. Once you crank up clocking to "ludicrous speed" USB devices do not behave well at all. So... where is the PS/2 port? there isnt one.

At least the MSI Z390 Godlike realised this and added it for the extreme clockers. But regardless of that. This has no PLX. its a $2000 board with no PLX. Surely with all those PCIE slots and bragging its quad SLI compatible you would want to advertise it has PLX. Its a great selling point for something we all cry for. Sadly, there isnt any.

This board is about as useful and popular as the Nvidia TITAN Z and priced the same too.

If this was a TR4 board and a bit cheaper it might have been worth investing to for the people that have this kind of interest and money, but it being meant for the hard to acquire and really overpriced Intel xeon chip, yeah i can't see this having a bright future.

Went to my new psychiatrist yesterday. Finally..

Any way he has an accent. I ask where it's from, he says Norway. I say "hey one of my computer buddies is from there!" And then "So is that nut case who shot all those poor kids :( "

He says "yes, I evaluated him"

Totally star struck. I'm big into psychology and criminal psychology so it was literally like meeting someone famous.

Top guy. Very good, too, I felt amazing when I left. I missed that with my psych I had ages ago. Getting proper therapy, not just handing out pills.

Glad you're feeling good mate :)

I've not had a good psych in years now dude.

A good one clears the wasps from your brain and you feel good when you leave. Like my old one, he was amazing.

This bell I sacked off was crap. I'm so glad I did that now.

Pretty weird isn't it?

I wonder if they may have been returned from the early launch problems or what. Apparently they're not functioning 2080s but it just makes you wonder... Like, maybe the 2080 was the worst seller of the lot being it was pretty identical to the existing 1080ti and so on. I'd love to be a fly on the wall sometimes.

It's obvious though that this gen is over and ampere is coming very soon as they're clearing out.

As usual though fantastic deals going on ATM. Quite probably much better than next gen.

When you say fantastic deals, do you mean what they were supposed to be priced in the first place?

These chips have to be binned before they're put on a card, they'll simply be any remaining TU104 dies that didn't make the cut for the 2070Super during the binning process. It will be quite rare to get chips with this many defects hence why it's so late in life and low numbers(These heavy defect chips will have been stockpiling since Turing's launch), but it's essentially free money if you can roll a SKU out of them.

We saw a similar thing with Pascal and the GP104 GTX1060's that came out later in its life, from the left over dies that didn't make the cut for the GTX1070.

Thats pretty much what he has stated in the video. Furthermore and the part I like. Is that its a little thumbs up to the environment by recycling these unsuccessful components, or parts left over from previous sku. AMD have done the same thing.

It was just interesting to see that while GAMES performed the same as all other 2060 on the market. certain applications rocketed by a fantastic 47%.

Makes you wonder how many still worked as say, a 2070 yet ended up on here just to make stock. I know companies do that a lot.

Good old tech mysteries.

WC - they're power limited and quite probably driver nerfed.

Would be amazing if some bright spark did a driver hack, but those are infrequent now so I'd imagine Nvidia have secured them pretty well.

WTF.

Took my rig apart to reconnect the screen and now it will not boot with the memory at 3200, even though it's been fine for about 10 days before I did the tear down.

WTF X2.

Took the RAM out, put it back in, rebooted and it's running at 3200. Sod it, I'll take it lmao

Just saw that there is a sequel on the horizon to one of the best point n click adventures ever.

Beyond a steel sky, the sequel to Beneath a steel sky, will soon have a release date on Steam :)

To hell with AAA titles. I'm most excited for this and Settlers 8.
