Small talk & Chit chat

So learned something new today.

My love of SLI still persists (no idea why). However I learned that games like BF V have intentionally removed SLI, not because of support being poor, but because it has opened the doors to exploits via nvidia inspector.

Apparently by mimicking block like graphics you expect from Mincraft. It allowed you to not only see enemies through objects, but also shoot them :O

I do wonder if this kinda of issue is present in other games. Maybe we are too hard on some developers without knowing the full story for its lack of support.

I did test Need for Speed payback with some SLI trickery. I noticed fps was crap, but I was able to clip through corner blocks that would send my car into a spin. That in itself would be an exploit in the online gaming world.

pretty appaling how the need to win above all others will result in your intentionally dropping visual fidelity to something of an eye sore, just to get the early kill shots. How is that even enjoyable.

People just love cheating. They think they are achieving something. Of course they're not really, but yeah people just love to cheat.

What, that implies that the server trusts clients. Hasn't Dice learned anything since the farce of BF 3 where you could just send packets telling the server "I killed him", with the server responding with "ok" - resulting in kill feeds like this:

Anyhow I wouldn't recommend SLI in a multiplayer shooter in the first place - extra input latency makes your reactions a fair bit worse in comparison to other players. And since reaction times pretty much follow the bell curve with ~200ms being the average, quite a few people who'd otherwise react slower than you will now out-react you. Human Benchmark's statistics are quite interesting. My result of 5 clicks was 184ms for the record, but I doubt my actual reaction time is that exceptional. Just a result of decently quick gear.

I looked into more and I found something interesting.

so the current live config for BF5 is doing some interesting stuff with your profiles. It almost seems like Nvidia are skirting the UAC because when you make the SLI changes in nvidia inspector e.g change SLI bits to battlefront II (2017) which are known to enable SLI in BF V, it seems that your changes are replaced back to default "single GPU" without your permission i.e. No UAC prompt pops up.

The fix below. I just tried and it worked :)

Marking the profile database files as "read only" will stop them from being reset.

Run nvinspector and enable your SLI bits, save your changes.

Go to C > Nvidia > ProgramData (or C > ProgramData > Nvidia Corporation) and search for "nvdrsdb" without the quotes.

Locate the two ".bin" files (nvdrsdb0.bin and nvdrsdb1.bin), right-click and mark them as "read only."

Done.

No more fiddling or downloading of files required. Just good ol' read/write permissions.

Elizabeth Warren isn't really left wing, she's a career politician neo lib who's policies are often further right than Theresa Mays when it comes to things like economics & healthcare, as can often be the case with American democrats I guess (Though she's ex republican). Until she realised there was a "niche" for it she'd always rejected being associated too much with the left, and she's never really supported any of the explicitly left wing candidates in her party.
Personally I think Andrew Yang looks like a great candidate but that's mostly based on his really strong grasp of the implications of AI on the job market and how we should handle that imo.

For those enjoying the division 2 at the moment but are suffering with crashes to desktop. Do this fix.

I have been stable since doing it and no more crashes.

The Division 2 Crash Fix
Find the location of your "TheDivision2.exe" application
Right click it and Select properties
Click on the Tab labeled "Compatibility"
Check the box that says "Disable full screen optimizations"
Click on "Change high DPI settings"
Check the box that says "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by."
Select "Application" in the drop down box. Click ok

Then make sure next time you boot up Division that DX12 is on and that you restarted the game.

Div 2 runs better for me at 1440p than 1080p. My maximums were higher at 1080 but my mins were in the 30s. At 1440 maximums were down but mins were in the 40s.

Guessing it's my slow CPU, but usage barely went over 30%.

My GPU is is 98 and CPU 87%.

But I was getting random CTD or black screens. Hope they patch that out because I dont like modifying .exe files even if its just a windows setting.

I noticed a whopping 20fps difference between Dx11 and Dx12 though. 12 is much smoother. 65fps vs 85fps

Also,

Here is something for you Alien. Saw this in the bike store next to my apartment. Looks familiar

I was browsing overclockers uk and i spotted the gigabyte arous xtreme waterforce motherboard and then nearly chocked.
I know there has to be a halo product or two but £950 for a z390 board
holy moly

Yeah that's for someone with more money than sense.

I have noticed on my main system my cpu is hitting up to 80% (7700K) and my 1080Ti is going from 75% to 98% dependent on how much my cpu is being used.

DX12 is a no go for me though as it crashes back to the desktop every 10 minutes when in DX12 mode compared to no crashes when in DX11.

I also basically get no increase in frame rate.

Do the fix I posted above, it reduces crashes to one every few hours instead of minutes.
