Slot 1 quagmire

In a dramatic series of events, ian somehow managed to sell my celeron cpu ( dont know how he managed to, seeing as i gave his gran specific instructions that it was MINE not HIS, and it was not his to sell) my msi board blew for no reason for the THIRD TIME ( mind you, its a 20 pound board:$) and my ram became lost. seeking a very cheap, but hard wearing computer i turned to ebay, and ended up getting a p3 slot 1 450 mhz and matsonic slot 1/ socket 370 board

unfortunately i realised too late that the cpu included was a slot 1 cartridge cpu. now normally, this would be good, seeing as the cpu has an extremely small core for its age and 512k cache ( seems outdated to other people but for the year 2000 release date was very good). unfortunately, the cpu runs at 2.0 vcore, and the stock hs is frankly a load of crap. ive come to notice that no company in existence, or even ebay, seem to have decent h/s and fans for these chunky, outlandish intel relics. which is a shame really, as even when i turn the voltage down to 1.80 ( .20 below recommended stock voltage) i can still run the processor at 603 mhz. im planning to get a coppermine 800 mhz and some beefy sdram, but the problem is that i'll also need some really badass cooling strapped to the 2.0v beasty:( anyone who can suggest a way of cooling this extremely strange, but quite funt to OC cpu will have my eternal thanks ( sadly no sexual favours this time round)

cheers! matt:D

perhaps you could get some old, small copper chipset heatsinks, and using some thermal epoxy, apply them to the processor....then maybe point a fan in that general direction?

Thats's a bummer, If you want I can post a wanted ad over at Overclockers.com's for sale section, we have thousands of people that use our Classified section, Since I run the For Sale section there, I can probably find you a Alpha 3125 or maybe a Swiftech MCW2000 in your area, maybe I could find someone that would send you one for just the shipping cost or very cheap. Since most of these are just sitting in peoples closets.

Let me know if you want help tracking down one of these heatsinks, these are the two best back in the Slot 1 days. I once fabricated a Swiftech MCX2000 with a solid silver base, the guy that I made it for was crazy, but he wanted one, so I made it. Was somehting like around $250 just in .999 silver in the production. Guy never used it, he just wanted it. I guess some people have more money than sense...
