In a dramatic series of events, ian somehow managed to sell my celeron cpu ( dont know how he managed to, seeing as i gave his gran specific instructions that it was MINE not HIS, and it was not his to sell) my msi board blew for no reason for the THIRD TIME ( mind you, its a 20 pound board:$) and my ram became lost. seeking a very cheap, but hard wearing computer i turned to ebay, and ended up getting a p3 slot 1 450 mhz and matsonic slot 1/ socket 370 board
unfortunately i realised too late that the cpu included was a slot 1 cartridge cpu. now normally, this would be good, seeing as the cpu has an extremely small core for its age and 512k cache ( seems outdated to other people but for the year 2000 release date was very good). unfortunately, the cpu runs at 2.0 vcore, and the stock hs is frankly a load of crap. ive come to notice that no company in existence, or even ebay, seem to have decent h/s and fans for these chunky, outlandish intel relics. which is a shame really, as even when i turn the voltage down to 1.80 ( .20 below recommended stock voltage) i can still run the processor at 603 mhz. im planning to get a coppermine 800 mhz and some beefy sdram, but the problem is that i'll also need some really badass cooling strapped to the 2.0v beasty
anyone who can suggest a way of cooling this extremely strange, but quite funt to OC cpu will have my eternal thanks ( sadly no sexual favours this time round)
cheers! matt
