SLI compatibility

Newbie to the forum here. In my current system I have a XFX 8800GTS 640mb and a friend of mine just bought a XFX 8800GTS 320mb Fatal1ty Edition card and wants to get rid of it for cheap. My question is can I run this in SLI mode with my current card. Thanks

Thats not exactly the optimistic news I wanted to hear. The thing is if I want to buy it I have to decide because if he wants to return it for a 768mb xxx edition he needs to do it in the morning. I wont have time to try by then. Anybody else have any thoughts suggestions or whatnot.

Well if it's cheap and you have money lying about not doing anything else maybe

SLI does give a performance increase, but not in everything and in some games it's downright buggy

Don't have any money but he only wants 290 for it. Trying to play Crysis and I cant turn it to very high settings and I would really like too. My buddies rig has sli on 2 ultras and it looks and runs sweet. But I cant afford those cards right now.

Madcat i tried it with those 2 cards. EVGA 8800GTS 640mb Superclocked and a XFX 8800GTS 320mb Fatal1ty. didnt work. tried everything

HMMM. Not sure if I want to try it since I havn't heard or read about any really good news on looking into it. Too bad.

I tried calling XFX about it and they said that it will definitely not work. You have to have they same cards and they must have the same memory capacities.

Long and the short of it:

Don't buy the extra card:

It's not worth the extra money

It's not gonna improve performance in all games

It will give you issues

In a few months time a card will come out that spanks everything on the market
