Single Card or SLI ?

Turns out i cant get that card, it requires 2x8pin and I only have 1x8 pin and 1x6 pin

Did your PSU not come with adapters to make a second 8pin PCIe? I think mine came with adapters for two 6 pin to an 8 pin or something, I can't really remember exactly what it was though. Some GPUs also come with an adapter (can't say for the 780, I don't have one to unbox lol).

If you can't use an adapter, is a new PSU out of the question?

My 780 came with adapters but I think it is from molex to 6/8 pin.

I wouldn't dare to use molex to 8pin adapter. Kinda like bodging it a bit.

I don't think I would use them either, especially long term, but they must be fine for at least short term or they wouldn't come with them. If you get a 780, I'd upgrade the PSU before long to one which natively supports at least 2x8pin PCIe.

Gonna have a look for my PSU box if it still have it and look for cables too, if not then looks like a new psu is on the cards too

Haha yeah exactly, if you spend more money now, it'll let you spend even more money later!

A decent PSU is always a good investment anyway, even if you don't want another GPU later on.

Is the Corsair RM 850w good enough ? or would the RM 750w do ?

Ample wattage, and it does come with 2 8 pin PCIe.

Upon Googling it I found a thread that described the cables as "horrific, especially the PCIe cables". They're apparently very inflexible and hard to work with.

Do you plan on SLI ever? If you do, the supplied cables won't do, even though it is high enough power.

I'd recommend the Corsair AX860 (non i, that's a waste of money) if it's within budget. The cables are nicer, and it's supplied with enough cables to support SLI.

Now that i think about what people have said that they prefer a single high end card instead of sli. I dont think i will go sli in the future, think i will just stick to the one high end card unless i get another one dirt cheap lol the AX860 is almost double the price of the RM750 though :/ I also have Bitfenix braided extensions to use instead of seeing the standard cables

No problem, the RM750 should be fine then, I just thought I should bring it up as a consideration

In fact I found a site saying that the RM750 (so probably the RM850 too) comes with 4 PCIe 8pins in total, so SLI would even be fine with this one (I know you said you don't want it anyway, but it's there.)

I dont know if its still in Question which aftermarket 780 design comes in good, but i personally adore the GPUs from Zotac..sexy black and Orange..maybe it matches in your Case or not..
