Should i get the sapphire r9 290

PC Master Race

New member
OK so I want this card it fits my build and looks cool and performs well.
But I was wondering if I should get a different gpu or choose a different brand.
I am a new pc master race brother so I don't know everything about pcs and graphics cards.
Any help would be a huge help.
I am willing to spend anything under £280:)

Depends, do you game on 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 resolution? The R9 290 is perfect for 1440p gaming with decent fps. A bit overkill for 1080p.. For just 1080p, the R9 280x should be decent enough and saves you some money.

But tbh, I use the R9 290 with 2x 1080p screens at the moment, I might buy a 27'' 2560x1440 screen later this year.. It's because the game I play mostly (Starcraft 2), doesn't support 1440p native because it apparently could give you an advantage compared to other online players.. I thought a 1080p game on a 27'' 2560x1440 screen would look odd, so I bought a second 1080p Dell instead. I just wanted the second fastest card available (best bang for buck), and the card which was relatively future proof, so that's why I went for it (sold my old HD 7870 for 100 euros, so at the end only spend 250 euros for the 290) ^_^

But anyways, can't complain much about the card. The Tri-X and Vapor-X are both very good options! If the colors fit your build, go for it!

The 290 is still the best bang for buck when it comes to getting a high end GPU. The Sapphire vapor x is one of the best coolers available for the R9 290 series as well, with only the PCS+, Tri-X, and MSI Lightning cooler rivaling it.
I'd go for it. For 1080p gaming it still makes sense as to really have a smooth experience, you don't want it dipping below 60fps, so having 80-100fps averages across the board is awesome. :)
