I could get a EVGA Gtx570 @170e and was wondering if i should take it to make my system 3way sli?

I have 1200w PSU so power is no problem but i know my CPU is getting over run by 10 elephants but its so qood offer that i cant resist it....

(My CPU: i7 920@4.127Ghz (1.3125V)+H100

Can your motherboard support it at all 8x? if not I wouldn;t really bother with it. Better to save up and upgrade in the future to a new gen card.

Asus Rampage III Formula it can make x16/x8/x8 so should i? Its not so big money for me at least.... but just want to know if there is any point....

If you're not running into framerate issues or are on a single monitor I wouldn't bother spending the money.

Another thing to consider is the VRAM the 570's don't have alot unless you have a 2.5GB version. But they'd all have to be 2.5GB to count.

Also most games aren't optimized for 3 way SLI and you can run into alot of driver issues.

Should be fine but there might not be a point as the Lys0l said. Esecilly considering the Vram

Unless you want to have a 3 GPU folding rig, probably not a great idea. I just went to 2x SLI on my 570's - and even then it was overkill I think. But like you, couldn't pass up a good deal.

Do your best to hold off, and then get the 690 (or two) in a year ;-)

This is a total VRAM issue. Unless (like said before) they are 2.5GB you will NEVER use all three before you run out of VRAM.

Only real advantage to it I see is, if the games you are playing are micro-suttering real bad and you are real senitive to it, a 3rd GPU will smooth things out a bit, or if you just have to try it out, it will make a good folding rig when you upgrade later.

What happens is your machine is used to make computations to fold protiens so what ends up happening is all the computers folding around the world = one giant super computer helping to find cures for diseases, you download a program from Stanford University and that allows you to help fold and as you can see from my signature I help with OC3D's Team 98860.
