Should I custom watercool.....

I'm considering moving over to a full custom loop cooling my CPU, Motherboard and Graphics Card. My current setup is:

6700K at stock speeds (Corsair H115i with 2x Corsair 140mm ML140 Pro fans)
Asus Maximus Formula VIII
Asus GTX Strix 1070 (stock cooler)

CPU Temp idles around 28c and never really over 44c under load, I believe once when rendering 4K video it hit 50c.

My 1070 is usually at 34c idle and 55c under load.

I would like to stick to EK blocks and 2x 280mm radiators, one in the top and one in the front both would have 2x Corsair ML140 Pro fans. I'm using a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv case.

Please could I get some advice...

Would it make a drastic difference to my temps?
Which blocks would you recommend?
I would need a slimmer 280mm radiator for the top as the H115i just fits but the front one could be a decent depth.

Is there a decent AIO solution out at the minute for the 1070 Strix that has a 140mm or 280mm radiator?

Thanks for any help :)

TBH at 44 and 55 degrees under load for the CPU and GPU respectively, you would not be getting a lot of benefit for the amount of money you're going to spend. Unless you're talking about Delta temps of course.

Of course if you're doing it for the looks or for fun and because you want to that's a perfectly good reason. They do look sweet but it can be an expensive path to go down.

If a decent AIO GPU cooler was released with a 140 or 280 rad I would jump on that, I know the difference would be minimal on the CPU changing from a H115i but a full custom loop is something I'm considering.

As you said though, it's an expensive option and I've just spent a small fortune building this PC as needed everything, monitor, keyboard etc :(

Just want to make sure everything is as cool as possible and as quite as possible.

Lots of decent 280mm and 140mm AIOs dude, from Corsair, NZXT, Swiftech, Cryorig, Cooler Master and Be Quiet.

For a Nvidia GTX 1070 Strix?? I already have a Corsair H115i on my CPU

The only way to AIO cool a GPU with anything more than a 120mm rad is to either get the Alphacool AIO and add a GPU to the loop or get a basic bracket like the NZXT Kraken and use a Asetek (round) AIO in your chosen size. Problem is then VRMs don't get any active cooling, only a fan.

Unless of course Corsair are still making brackets. In which case you would get that first, then pick a Corsair AIO (well, or any one you like that fits it).

Nothing for the 1070 yet, not sure if any of the others are compatible either. You can get the EVGA Hydro but it's only a 120mm. Having said that? they are very good. I have one on my Titan X (considerably hotter and larger than your 1070) and the temps are excellent, as are the overclocks.

Edit. Strix? you're screwed. Either full water or nothing really.

If you have money to burn that you don't need, go for it. Otherwise those temps seem totally fine to me.

There is nothing to mount an AIO to a Strix.

There is the EIswolf from Alphacool you can get a 280mm rad for that but the hoses are not very good to look at imho.

The strix is the best air cooler on the market IMHO and I genuiley think your AIO idea is a bad one in this instance. Its either full proper watercooling or dont worry about it.

As for what blocks are best etc. Pick a brand you like the look of the blocks (like EK) and then just buy a CPU block that matches from the same brand.

Based on your reported temps.. I dont think you need watercooling. It would be 100% aesthetic reasons for you.

Your temps are lower than what some get with a full water cooling loop on here.

.

The Kraken would possibly work but I don't even know if they're still available. TBH I agree with you guys, the Strix is a card designed for air. Otherwise it's no different to any other card. You are paying for the cooling, VRMs etc.

I think I'm just going to go custom.... One nice sized 280 rad should be enough.

Any suggestions which one?
What's the most commonly used size for tubing these days?

Too many options! lol
