Umm, why not? Northwood's are a helluva lot more efficient than Prescott's will ever be.

No they aren't??

I think the Prescott with 4x more L2 cache and higher bus speed is gonna do better in Photoshop than that precious Northwood :)

Prescott: 31 Stage Pipe, 800MHz FSB/1066MHz FSB, 1MB L2

Northwood: 20 or 21 Stage Pipe, 800MHz FSB, 512k L2

Hmm.....

Northwood's also run at 1/3 the temp.

AMD64 can only be compared to Prescott-2M's..

Prescott-2M: 31 Stage Pipe, 800MHz FSB/1066MHz FSB, 2MB L2

Northwood: 20 or 21 Stage Pipe, 533MHz FSB/800MHz FSB, 512k L2

Temp has nothing to do with it.

Meh the 2MB L2 does NOTHING. It's been proven. The core cannot take advantage of it cuz It's just junk. Netburst is dead. Move on Intel!

Net burst was the ****** shit back then. Not no more.

The core can take advantage of it, why don't you go try Photoshop on my comp before saying shit like that.

ur calling his cpu junk... that's mean  and tbh man, you would NOT be saying this before you got your amd rig

By the time I was done with my Intel rig |3ourne had told me time and time again AMD was better. So, yes, I would have.

Going back a few years, any other CPU than an Intel was seen as second best, and only to be bought if you couldn't afford "the real thing". Things have changed a lot in the past 2 years, and now AMD seem to be increasing popular.

Dell have announced very recently that they're going to release a range of PC's with AMD CPU's. So, if the world largest direct computer manufacturer/reseller thinks they're good enough to go in their PC's, they should be good enough for most people!

I've got 2 PC's (& a notebook.... & 3 Ipaqs..... And a fancy mobile phone.... and a flash car.... and a miserable wife..JK...) both PC's have AMD CPU's. Athlon 64 3200+ and a Sempron 2800. They're good. Never had a problem.

I'm a whatever's better at the time man :)

Hell if Cyrix put out a killer ass stomping chip i'd be all over it, hehe.
