Short stroking.

I have been reading a bit about short stroking HDD's and was wondering if anybody has done it or tried it.

I was wondering just how much of a performance increase it has over standerd. and if it was worth doing so I ave a couple of fast Hdd's just for my games. I would like to fully upgrade to SSD's but with their prices so high at the momeant I only got 2 to use for my OS.

So is it worth Buying say 2 500gb hdd's short stroking them in raid 0 to give me 1 333gb hard drive. Or is it just false economy?

Main thing about SSDs is the response time is way better than any HDD, no amount of short stroking is going to meaningfully decrease that gap in response time. Ofc you can get HDDs going at SSD speeds by RAID-0-ing, but I'm not sure whether short stroking will help much tbh.

I'd rather have the extra 667GB rather than any small benefit from short stroking
