Shocking Video Quality

Morning,

Just a question regarding video playback on my system. I've just downloaded MPC-HC (latest 64-bt version) which usually plays video files back fine but I've just opened a 720p video file and it looks terrible. It actually looks like a painting, nothing is smooth.

Is this software based? Well it can't be my TV I know that!

Does your TV have a PC or gaming mode? Some TVs, if you use them in normal TV mode with all the extra processing features don't work well when using your PC as a monitor and make the picture look bad.

TV has a gaming mode which is activated. It wouldn't be the video file would it? Just everything else, desktop, YouTube, games etc look fine.

have you tried playing it through VLC or GOM player?

Could be the video file if everything else is looking ok. Try downloading a youtube vid in 1080 or 720p and play that with MPC to see if it's any better.

Edit: Okay it' just MPC-HC, I opened the file in just the normal Windows 8 video app and it is much clearer.
