Shiny..(errrrrrrrrr actually matt black) new build

For a few weeks now I have been trying to put together a new pc (thought I would treat myself

).

The components are;

Corsair Obsidian 800D

Gigabyte P67A UD7 B3

Intel i7 2600K

Kingston HyperX DDR3 2133 4gig kit

Mushkin Calisto SSD

Seagate 500gig 7200 (2 of)

Corsair AX850 Gold

AND HOW COULD I FORGET..........The mandatory NOCTUA NHD14.

Firstly the Obsidian ordered from Scan computers arrived damaged.......and not at the hands of the courier.....but had at some stage been removed from it's packaging, been damaged, repacked and sent as new goods ! After reading them the riot act (actually the Sale Of Goods Act

)they did respond well and arranged collection and dispatched a replacement and not make me wait until they "sourced a new one from Corsair" as was their intention. BUT...give them their due, they always responded to emails and kept me in the loop.

NOW....I find the motherboard ordered from Aria arrived with a fault (the 2 "A" channel memory slots) and the pc will not post with a module installed in either of them. After 2 days, 1 RMA request placed on their site and 1 email direct to Customer services.......... NO RESPONSE !! It was then that I looked at the Aria forums (the bits about RMA's and returns mostly)...........quite frankly I wish I had checked them BEFORE ordering as the posts paint a picture of horrendous service !

Now then, I know some of the Aria staff are members here and this is not a direct swipe at them, but (like our own TTL) I believe in saying it as it is !

When will these retailers finally realise that happy customers ALWAYS COME BACK !

Finally (good I here you say) I believe a company is judged on how it deals with complaints and RMA's and NOT on how quickly it can ship out new components (as even a juvenile can do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

RANT OVER.........................(heads off in the direction of the fridge to liberate a can with the intent of drowning sorrows)

I've always had positive experiences when dealing with aria personally.

A few minor hiccups with them sending a wrong product once, and a dodgy psu,but other than that absolutely fine.

Best way with any cserve is to phone them directly,as you'll get far more achieved.

Just a little tip to shorten the length of refund though,is to have store credit rather than wait for them to credit money back to your bank account,as there is quite a substantial wait rather than the 5 days they quote it takes.I think that is minimum after recieveing, and testing the goods, and was told it could take upto 28 days by the cserve rep.

Sorry been away awhile. I know I forgot to mention the GPU. Am going to use (more a case of GOT TOO, rather than want too) an oldy worldy 9600gt. (NOW YOU KNOW WHY I DIDN'T MENTION IT !

Reason being I ran out off readies while in full flow !

Never mind I'll be saving hard for a new Nvidia card.

I personally have never had trouble previously, but this is the first attempt at a RMA with them. Their forums do show a lot of complaints but if you analyse it, it mostly just boils down to the fact that they don't reply to people. Bit of a shame really as most people will in fact put up with a little delay if you take the trouble to TELL THEM. Nothing is worse than being ignored. I have now received an RMA number and will be shipping the motherboard back to them tomorrow, so I'll see how well the situation is handled. Oh one last thing ........the 28 day thing.............this could have something to do with the fact that "The Sale Of Goods Act" quotes a figure very near (or in fact that figure) as being a reasonable time.

I bought a Corsair Obsidian 800D case from Scan that arrived with a chip in the powder coating on the top of the case. But give them their due they did replace it. It did take a few days. But at least Scan are one of the reputable companies that arrange a pickup courier at no cost to you and do not expect you to go to the trouble and expense of doing it yourself.

You're kidding? They never sent me a courier to pick stuff up!

No actually I'm not kidding. They really did. Some friends of mine who do a lot of pc setups swear by Dabs as they also do this (or so thy tell me).
