Setting up RAID on 2 x Force 3 120GB

I've never used a RAID Array before and I wanted to know about setting up RAID on the 2 SSD's and then using maybe a HDD as a backup of everything....

I watched TTL's guide of setting up RAID but wasn't entirely sure about what the best RAID array is, as it was only a basic one?

I read through that thread you started and I gathered that as I was going to be using 120GB drives it would be alright/useful as that was what some people had said the maximum size SSD worth setting up RAID on was 120GB......

I got the feeling it was a bad idea altogether. I'm separating my drives now - 1 for OS and 1 for program's and games

look guys the force 3's as well as most current ssd's have good background garbage collection dont be afraid to raid them for uber speed. if I had 2 120's 240's or hell even 500+ ssd's i'd still raid them. This hiogwash about load balance thingamiggy someone posted about must be more server oriented. Cause I have never heard of it in my 25+ years of building computers. And 20+ running raid. Raid is good Raid is fast and Raid is fun

If you mean putting a HDD in there as part of the RAID array then that will defeat the point of RAIDing the SSDs as the array will only work at the speed of the slowest thing.

if however you mean using some backup software to image the drive and save the image file on a HDD then this would be a good idea, in fact its what I do.

As for enabling the RAID itself, first you have to go into your BIOS and change the mode from IDE/AHCI to RAID, then at boot you will have to load the RAID configuration tool, usually ctrl + i, from there its just a case of selecting the corresponding options to the array tipe you want
