Seriously where is the i7 Overclocking Guide??

Sorry but the "Official OC3D Core i7 Overclocking thread" doesnt have any useful content, just peoples results. I would really like the exact steps to squeeze every last drop from my i7 950 without the long winded explanations found all over the net. Then maybe it can be pinned to top? A guide for memory and GPU would be fantastic too.

Why dont i just use one from another site you ask.. well i trust tom and overclock3d.net so would prefer to use this sites expert knowledge.

Thanks

PS: Please slap me if ive some how missed it, i did search.

well ill tell you how most of boys here taught me

get into ur bios (just press delete) when u start ur system

set the overclock thing to manual

increase ur blck to 200

put ur multi on 20

that should give ur ram options to 1600mhz or 2000 select 1600

ulck should be double ur rated speed

disable: speedstep, ctech, cpu spectrum and pcie spectrum

DONT disable ht

set ur ram to it its rated volts

cpu voltage: set it to around 1.25v

cpu pll should be around 1.8

now save those settings and if you can load into windows download a program called prime95

then set the torture test to blend (this will stress everything watch your temps soar)

you must prime for around 6 hours or more for stability (I did mine for 9 hours) if you get a black screen it means your overclock isnt stable

so increase the cpu voltage slightly then test again. Overclocking takes alot of time, and every cpu is different for example my 950 with the noctua and the rampage 3 extreme uses 1.28v for 4ghz but the temps a really good, but I can do 4.2ghz at 1.31v and 4.4 at 1.34, I havent gone over 4.4ghz yet....max temp Ive ever reached is 77 degrees and that is while I was priming at 4.4ghz

Sweet thanks. My ram is Cosair Dominator 1600, how do i check its rated volts? 9 hour waits per test dont sound like fun. Not being able to use the PC for that time will be like dangling candy in front of me for hours.

The reason i need every last drop is because this will be an FSX rig which is hugely CPU intensive, and will be running it on 3 x 32" LCDs @ 5760 * 1080 which wll also give my 6970s a hard time.

Im sure I'll be back with a few more questions once ive started putting this into action

Edit: sorry i just was expecting a pinned guide, didnt know i had to look through everyone threads. Yeah i found a bunch on google too, but I dont trust em, they are all differnt, how do i know which is the best. Just thought you guys would know best.

look at the ram sticks...says it there yeah its along time but Id rather complete stabillity, also becarefull when building ur rig, Ive learnt the hard way....I still have my bent pins which need to be fixed.....

Cool thanks found it. Rated 1.65V and cheers i will be careful. Have actually built quite a few systems for myself, family, friends, even the complex manager lol. Just never done much over clocking.

Seriously there are a lot of guides on Google which i showed

Oh dam sorry SnW, I sometimes scroll my wheel mouse too fast and completely miss posts. Wasnt being rude. Would have definitely checked them out if i saw them. Doh im an idiot!

Seriously, where's the manners?

Um the website is called overclock3d and there is no i7 overclocking guide... Its like a cooking site with no recipes. I think the statement "Seriously where is the i7 Overclocking Guide??" is well called for.. It not said in a rude way, but a shocked way. I hunted for this thing and was expecting someone to go you idiot its right in front of you.

I guess its hard to tell the tone of a post from someone new. But I always say Please, Thankyou, Sorry etc where ever fitting. I have helped welcome a whole bunch of people in the few days ive been here, and tried to add a little value where i can in replying to people. If you guys think im rude then that suxs. I actually thought i might call this forum home

Theres at least 10 threads will all the info you need if you want to sit down and look for them. Its not a public service.

we have a lovely community here that are willing to help one another out but you have to do some searching yourself thats all, I pretty much learnt from what tom and the others said in there replys to other people. There is really no need for a guide

If you've done what everybody else has done and post a thread called "i7 Overclocking Help" post your current settings, what you aim to achieve and all the rest of it you would get help but being an *cough* about it is just not the way, mate. I do tend to be quite blunt when somebody speaks like you did there for which I am indeed being an *cough* myself.
