Sensor fail UFA !

Sensor fail UFA !!!!

The short story is my Mach 2 GT displays silly temps of +59c and climbs up and down the scale and that’s before I switch it on. Turn it on and I get the error Sensor fail UFA. This is intermittent since last week, head gets its usual frozen self but system wont come up. Flashing didn’t solve it and nor did a borrowed working controller card. Its been running two years without any problems, so I cant complain. Spoke to Phil about a replacement unit but before I jump down that road, has anyone experienced the same error message and if so how did you solve the problem ?

Yep I think the temp probe in the head has given up, but its always wise to ask the question just in case am missing something.

Thanks in advance Ant:>

Best bet is to get a new sensor first.

It's not the easiest thing to change but it's not that bad. Worst part of it digging out the old one but you don't really have to.

Just need to chop the wiring, pre-solder a 'tail' on the new sensor, get it taped on as close to the head on the neck as you can manage, and make sure it's 100% sealed when you're done.

After that it's a matter of trying to get the insulation and sleeving back together so you have to be pretty gentle about opening it up so you can get it back together and not have it either ugly or leaking.

Other option is to get it repaired by someone, and that depends on where you are.

You can also consider other upgrades/regassing at the same time depending on what your budget is, but the repair itself shouldn't be too terribly bad.

If you've checked for a control fault and it seems ok, the sensor itself is the likely problem.

Oh how I wish id seen this post before I ordered a new Mach 2 GT.

I did dig it out and to my amazement having removed the heat sink surrounding the sensor, I discovered that it was slightly corroded and one wire had become detached hence the intermittent behaviour.

Soldered it back on and used leak fix to put it back together. Works fine now !

Now I have two mach gts lol

I am prepping for a new build using two Lian Li PC 343B cases joined together one is to be reduced in height by two drive bays. The mach 2 gt will occupy this base unit but this will require some work.

Thanks for the advice I got the old one working just fine.

Hi, I have the same problem now with sensor ufa. Antony pl can you give me some help where the wire is and how did you removed the heat sink?? thx

Ok if you are not mechanicaly minded dont try it if you are then

First you will need to cut or remove the heatshrink around the back of the mounting kit, this will expose the armourflex and also the heater cable that wraps around the outside of the armourflex...

You should now see some electrical type tape on the back of the mounting head securing the armourflex to the back of the head.

Carefuly remove the tape and pull back gently on the armour flex to expose the stainless steel suction tube, you should see that the mounting head has a collar at the rear and a length of straight copper from the evap head will be visable, it will have the grey wires for the temp sensor also the red wires for the heater element.

They are not always in the same position but 8 out of 10 mach2's sensors will be mounted straight down the side of the tube that extends from the evap, if you use a flat blade screwdriver or even better a pair of pointy nose plyers and gently remove the old sensor DON'T dig or gouge around the rear of the head you may damage the capilary tube then just pull the old sensor out

I would just stick the new sensor in about the same position as the old sensor and the only place I have ever got new sensors from is http://www.extremecoolingtechnologies.com/ or speak to Phil at http://www.extremeprometeia.com

yep fatty is on the mark with the guide :D

Its not for the none technical to attempt and as fatty says don’t dig it out gentle force. just pretend its your tooth that your removing if you have a replacement sensor you will need to reverse engineer etc. if not Phil as Fatty says can get you one. When you get it out just remove the heat sink by cutting it with care and it will come away easy check its condition and see if yours has corroded the connection, could be it just wants a good clean and a re solder As long as you use care in its removal you should be fine.

good luck .

OK, thank you for reply!! It is not for me, I am not so technicalgood. But Ihave a question I cant RMA it because my mach is 2 years older. I am from czech republic, who can help me and how much it will cost?

thx for help .-)
