Sell it or improve it?

3.6 on a Q6600 is not guaranteed. In fact, there have been a fair number of reports of recent ones struggling to get even 3.2. That said, depends on how long you want this setup to last you and what you will be doing with it.

3.6 on air, and actually using the cpu (like folding aswell as ur usual stuff) = no chance.

Been there, done that. U can have it on 3.6 and not use the pc much tho, run some benchies.

24/7 with the cpu above 90%, I wouldn`t go past 3ghz on air, without expecting issues.

Oki then lets say i will stay in Q6600. What mobo for that? On which one i can use my stuff like ram, gpu, hdd. Lets leave for now oc. Somone told me with that setup which i have now(this one from the begining of the post) dont leting me to use 100% of my gpu. With better cpu like Q6600 and better mobo i will have better performance with the same gpu and ram. Its that true? What i see so far:

GeForce 9800 GX2 5593 [ 987 ]

GeForce GTX 260 5664 [ 1000 ]

GeForce 8800 GTX 5158 [ 911 ]

3DMark06

SM 2.0 Score [3DMarks]

Sorry but cant post link or screenshot till 15 posts :(.

What i see from test from games my gpu its not so bad and in vista:

CPU 5,3

rest 5,9

till hdd which have 5,7.

Its looks like only my cpu is slacking. I meake decision already and i will look for Q6600. Please give me advice what mobo now and what cooling? I know i will not go for sli for now then can be single pci-e but with future(to put better cpu and better gpu like this ones which use 2.0). What i see so far from forum you have a lot of xp about computing and mobo, cpu knowlage. Please tell me which model of Q6600 going for and mobo+cooling?

This is where some fanboism creeps in.

Without planning on spending big cash on a 38/48, I`ve not come across a better mobo than the IP35 Pro yet.

Sure there are more popular mobos out there. Dunno why tho.

What do you think about this:

Asus P5N32-E PLUS SLi nForce (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

MSI P7N SLI Platinum nForce 750i (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3 Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Gigabyte GA-EP45T-DS3R Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

This is what i found so far. What do you think? And btw one noobie question: If mobo have crossfire support will dont have problems with my single gfx? I heard somwhere some mobo with crossfire support dont works so well with gfx like sli/nforce chipset ones? I dont belive in it because till you dont have 2 cards its dosent matter right? When you have 2 cards you need to worry about ati=crossfire and nvidia=sli.

To me, the Asus P5Q Pro is the best one to go for! Don't mix Intel and nVidia chipsets.. they don't like overclocking at all, espesh not on Quads, Duals seem to be okay.. don't go Dual though :D

Nope, your graphics card will work as it should, doesn't matter what chipset the motherboard has, as long as you don't try to SLI on a motherboard with CrossFire (Intel chipsets)

The Gigabyte ones interest me, I need to get one for an upcoming project.

Single cards are fine in either SLI/xfire mobos. nVidia/SLI/xfire mobos ~really~ should only be purchased if ur hell-bent on doing the SLI/xfire, as the Intel chipsets are that much more solid.

What's the reason for your hate of C2D's?

They perform better in games than Quads (ATM) , and TBH, he'll be upgrading again before games are actually optimised for more than one/two cores.

I just think that it is pointless going for dual when you can go for Quad..

We all have our own oppnions, don't we? :)

I was actually planning on buying my mates E8400 for £60 and my current CPU.. he declined.. GRR LOL I'll have to get one at some point though.. I want to see what these beauts are made of and how they perform under TMDD's control :) LOL

My firend have P5N-E sli+Core 2 Duo E4300 ( 1,8 Ghz ) set on 3,6 around 10 months already with Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme. THen what about that dont mix intel with nforce? Its looks like really nice mix. And i have nvida card then in few months when gtx will go lower i can buy for cheap one more and set them in sli and incress my graphic performance easyli by 30-40% right?

About Mobo and difrence between cross and sli i dont think its big when we are talking about midle class cpu/gpu/mobo its no big difrence. Between PCIE x8 or x16 its almoust nothing. And we are talking about midle class not high ending. I would like to spend around 250 pounds inlcuding in that price mobo+cpu+cooling.

So far

i agree with that. No sense is to invest in x38 or x45 chipsets when my memory is ddr2 and i have gfx on x8. Better to invest smart in like i thinking:

ASUS P5N32-E SLI PLUS+Q6600+ dont know what cooling yet, and use all staff which i have. I think easyli i can oc my ram till minimum 450 on each what will give me:

"The overall performance of the PC2-6400 DDR2-800 2x1GB Dual Channel modules from GEIL running at 900MHz with CL4-4-4-12, is close enough to that of the great Corsair CM2X512-8000UL at 1000MHz CL5-4-4-9. We can therefore classify it as a great performance."

+ i can oc my cpu till i think minimum 3,0 or 2,8 and with new cooling on my gfx till that speed which is on BFG 8800 GTX OC2 :)

What do you think about it and what cooling on that Q6600?

I said nVidia chipsets don't like Quads for overclocking very much.. read it fully before posting.

I know this from experience as one of my friends spent £180 to find out..

All the nVidia chipsets are bad.. Infact some are so bad such as the 790i, only eVGA and another one (can't remember manufactures name) have continued to make them.. otherwise they're completely discontinued, they're useless. Unstable, crash frequently .. you name it.

Okay, quick look over shows that he had 465FSB.. I can reach 500+ on my motherboard although my CPU is limiting me, my friend who has a P35 Neo-2FR like I do, he booted his Q6600 at 500FSB, even got a screenshot for proof although I do not have that screenshot now.

Oki iam almoust sure i will go for Asus P5Q Deluxe + Q6600 + looking for cooling which i can fit in to my mobo :)

I am pretty sure the AC Freezer Xtreme is going to fit, maybe worth looking in to that cooler. It is the most anticipated cooler this year as far as I am aware, I have been waiting nearly 8 months (since it was announced) for it to hit retail.. still hasn't made it due to delays which were out of ACs control.. but it should be with us in the next couple of days :D

You have the next CPU up from me a few years back (mine was 939). You can read my "story" on my build thread to see my full reasons. I play lots of games and went from a X800XT PE to 8800GTX and found 3fps when playing CSS so clearly my CPU was not my systems limiting factor. The limiter was my dual core x64 AMD crap bag. Stick in a cheap dual core and good mobo in and you'll see proper framerates. Dont worry about DDR3 and SLi they won't help as much as the CPU. I have had almost you exact system and this is the ONLY way i got more fps.

RAID is not cost effective and TBH should only be done if you got spares or the extra money.

You do NOT need better GFX your CPU won't cope as it is.

RAM will help but 5% at best.

Do NOT get a mega CPU though as Rasto said costs will come down soon and you'll get really cheap MEGA ones so get a E2180 or something so your still running way better but its cheaper.

This is whats coming in second part of the 2009:

diy.pconline.com.cn/cpu/reviews/0810/1438115_8.html

This site showing us how low prices of quad extrime will go down. But this mobo P5Q Deluxe will survive till second half of the 2009 and when extream will go down i will be eable to go for them. For now i see so far for my needs and software which i will use i will go for Q6600. I still thinking about zalman 9700.

Oki after 15 posts finaly i can post some pics from my PC:

This is what i did in past 1 year.
