Self Contained

I play allot of games with my friends over weekends, and I’m constantly lugging my PC around. Once Filtration is finished I wont be able to move it so I thought I would purchase a nice Mx11. Then I realised I don’t really want to spend £1000 on something that wont be my main PC, and will be out of date in a few years. So what’s the answer? A PC that is completely Self Contained and easy to lug around and upgradable. I want a PC I can pick up and move as easy as a laptop. So I thought I would build a PC with an inbuilt screen and space for mouse and KB to go inside. I wanted the box to be as small and as light as possible so I chose a 15” screen. Luckily my stand in PC for Filtration was a M-ATX board so I’m using all that hardware and i have 2x 15” screens lying around so it wont cost me a penny... Well only about £50 in materials... and maybe another £20 if i get in powder coated but I’m going function over form here, so don’t expect everything to be pretty, this PC is being built to suite a purpose.

So the box will be 350mm x 300mm x 210mm and will be everything needed for a gaming session.

Something else which is quite lucky the monitor i will be using has built in speakers and a headphone jack :) Ill be putting these in for sure!

Ok here is a shot of how everything slots together.

I took this from my old case, on off reset and lights. Looks really nice and perfect for making sure it does not get to hot in there!

I modded the PSU today so it can power the monitor as well.

There are a few mistakes so i will be replacing a few sides, but i wanted to get some laser grills so ill just get the whole side done. Also looking back i wish i had mouted the screen on to the front panel instead of the sides... Might still change it... Hmm...

I also got a stapl rammed in my foot :)

More soon (when i can be assed to get up and go back down stairs.

I agree, nice idea and looks like its coming together well! You need to get some sort of handle or something bolted on the top if your lugging it round to your mates quite often, make it a bit easier to carry :)

The idea is really good a portable powerful computer which is upgradeable why dont u commercialise it. and Yeah the handles would really be awesome. Are u gonna be selling cuz i might be tempted buy it (if u cud ship it to dubai).anyways good luck on your mind-blowing build.

hehe purchsed a handle as soon as i had the idea. its on now, ill take some snaps later as its nearly finished. I will be redoing it all again in a few months, laser parts and powder coating to make it all look nice. I just NEED it working by this sunday :D

Week away in a hotel on my own.. WOW MARATHON :)

Sorry for delay, but here are pics as it stands at the mo, its no finished but it good enough for me to take away for a week stuck in a hotel :)

Apologies for reawakening an old thread but after seeing your filtration project I had to see this one as well and again it's brilliant.

Is a Mk2 still a possibility, perhaps sometime this year and using newer specs?
