Searching for a good SSD raid controller

Hey guys,

Since I have an ASUS z77 deluxe and two of my Intel ports are already occupied, the only option for me to connect my two Samsung 840 pro ssd's are via a RAID controller (only two SSDs in RAID 0 ).

I'm looking for one that will yield good perfromance and will work without any need of flashing or endlessly tweaking it to work.

You really don't need a dedicated RAID card for just 2 SSDs.

Why can't you use onboard? You have the 2 Intel 6gbps, plus another 2 on the Marvell controller. I'm pretty sure both support RAID?

the Marvell controller yields horrible HORRIBLE performance.
it's not the drive because i connected it to one of intel's ports and it worked fine.

The marvel controller is horrible HORRIBLE!
never again... never again.

Hmm, I used to have the same board and I had absolutely no issues with it (albeit I never did RAID on it).

What do you currently have in the Intel ports?

On the Intel ports I have 1 samsung 830 pro (OS) and 1 samsung pro 840 pro 256 GB. yesterday I bought another 840 pro, connected it to the marvell chip and it performed horribly.
