Yeah, thing is I can't just go on the offensive. I got in trouble when I was younger so getting arrested now would be very bad for me. Also, as I study martial arts so because I'm trained the law would be harsh on me for kicking someones ass - if I lost control someone could die! (I guess you could argue it was of little use last night but the dude blind sided me.)

The bouncers let them run out and they got away. The police are looking into it. Funny thing is I know the copper, he went to my school lol.

Man they got you good mate....I despise 'tards like that. I too am trained in martial arts (Hapkido)....but do you not have a 'reasonable force' clause in your common law with regards to assault and battery? Here in Australia you can use 'reasonable force' to disable an attacker. For example if your assailant has a knife then you are permitted to use as much force as can be reasonably assessed to remove the threat. Once the attack is over, then the force must stop. I hope that makes sense, sorry it's late here

Nothing you can do if you didn't see it coming mate, however thats how a lot of people fight. Gone are the days of squaring up and fighting fair, people prefer to get the jump on you from out of sight if they think they will lose.

Also agree with Frags comments on this although I am too old to even get into trouble now, just prefer to walk away and say yeah yeah.

I also find being short helps as big guys seem to attract wannabe hard cases with something to prove, I have a few very big mates, and they are always getting approached by "younger drunk kids" who are way over their depth if they ever did decide to fight them. Although the "reasonable force" can be quite awesome to see, just glad it doesn't happen too often.

Make sure you have a talk with the bouncers and the manager, they are meant to be doing a job and obviously are not doing it properly.

The police photographers have been so we have evidence IF they catch the perp.

Peevs Hapkido looks cool, I tired aikido for a bit, hapkido looks like a mixture of that and jui jitsu. Do you still practice?

I got off pretty lightly tbh, 5 stiches and two broken teeth (which aren't that bad either).

Thses guys are local and if I ever see them then I'll be looking for an off camera moment to straighten things out on a level playing field.

Not sure if i'm classed as a 'big' guy - 6ft 2ish, bit over 12 stone.

I'm a little disheartened at the moment. All the training in the world means nothing when you are drunk and someone decides to sneak attack you.
