'Scan 3XS Swordfish' inspired 'COMPUDESK' design

Your initial plan for this looks awesome, saw the Swordfish at the Gadget Show Live this year and it looks amazing. Really hope you manage to put this together.

Ah forgot to mention, if you don't mind me asking how much do you reckon you'll be looking at in terms of materials cost?

As I've said in my OP I don't currently intend to build this, it was simply a design. Though I have an estimate of the materials needed and I've done a bit of math for anyone who thinks they'd like to build something similar.

NOT INCLUDING PC COMPONENTS, TOOLS, SHIPPING OR LABOUR

MDF SHEETING: 18x2440x1220 (x4) = £70

MDF SHEETING: 3x1829x607 (x2) = £15

PERSPEX: 3x1000x600 (x2) = £21

MDF PRIMER: 5l =£40

EGGSHELL PAINT: 5l = £50

HPTX MOTHERBOARD = £100

FAN FILTERS/COVERS = 120mm (x12) =£60

TOTAL = £356

This figure is however only an estimate, everyone makes mistakes when measuring and cutting, and other things like sandpaper should be factored in, paint figures are also estimates and that would be subject to change.

So basically...it'd be somewhere around £400 for the construction of the PC ready desk, which you could then install pre-existing pc components and watercooling into.

PS: Estimates for MDF and PAINT were from WICKES. Estimate for Perspex was from KITRONIX.

This looks good and would be amazing to see it built.

I always go to scan to buy my hardware, and I saw the swordfish while it was in the progress of being built, and then when it was finished it was amazing.

I know they originally had 2 GTX 590's in the swordfish, but when they did there performance day last month they swapped them out for 2 watercooled GTX 680's apparently.

Would never pay myself for a pc like that because simply I have no where to put it but it would be nice to own and use.

I hope you manage to pull this off as it will look amazing.

I'm hoping they have the Swordfish on display next time I go to one of their Pro Audio days

They originally started with a SR-2 and 5**s, but they have it set up with a 2011 rig and 6**s now

Like I've always said, there's not much chance of me having the funds or time to build this, not this year anyways. Though it's something for the future.

Just seen Azurite's build log in the Project Log's section, followed a similar plan to what you have here. You should check it out its pretty stunning.

I've seen it, and I had a lot of kind words to say. His build is absolutely amazing and incredibly unique. He should be very proud when it's all finished.
